I don’t know if it’s just recency bias, but every time I read an Emily Henry book, I think it’s better than all the ones I’ve read before. I absolutely adored this book - it’s beautifully written, with a real focus not just on romance but also friendship, family, and home. All the characters felt so real with their own issues, and finishing the book felt like saying goodbye to friends. Harriet in particular is such a relatable protagonist, and I loved that her and Wyn had multiple conflicts as individual characters outside of their relationship problems, it felt extremely real. I loved all the little in-jokes and motifs that kept returning throughout the book. I’ve never been much of a fan of second chance romances, but this might’ve single-handedly changed my mind about that, and while I still have one EmHen book left to read, but it’ll be pretty difficult to top this one.

very conflicted on how i feel about this book because one one hand, i a) love the way emily henry writes dialogue, and banter between all the characters and b) i liked the themes of friendship interwomen throughout this book BUT !! i wasn't a fan of the ending, and the reason for the breakup referred to in the summery felt very anticlimactic. but i had fun regardless, so i don't know.

Audiobook and Ebook

I was just looking for a lighthearted book to bide my time until another book became available on Libby. I've seen her books in bookstores, but I've never really bothered to read them or honestly heard much about them.

Overall, I actually really enjoyed it and read it quickly! It was entertaining and sweet within the second chance love story/not communicating trope. Also in addition to the one Black friend friend being included but at least she had somewhat of a life built up
with the farm, girlfriend, and pregnancy
. I liked how she did the timeline of Happy Place (past memories of friendship and building her life with Wyn) vs. the present. I loved Wyn and Harriet's banter and jokes with each other!

I'm sticking with 4 stars, like I enjoyed it and it's great but it was not the best book ever.

So cute and captivating. I love these characters. I love how the side characters weren’t even side characters, but they had lives and personalities of their own. A story about (mis)communication, growing up, and always finding a place where you belong with the people you love.

For a book called 'Happy Place,' I spent most of it in shambles.

As a people-pleasing daughter, this felt almost too real.

There is so much grief in this book: from holding onto post-graduate friendships for dear life to realizing you can outgrow yourself. It left me feeling homesick for a place I’ve never been to, and a person I’ve never known.
