I can’t believe it took me so long to read this book! It is simultaneously beautiful and heartbreaking; reading it was a rollercoaster of emotions. I laughed, I cried, I scowled, and I grimaced.
In between portrayals of the cruelty that women face at the hands of men, we’re rewarded with tender and loving moments between these women.
A story of love and found family, it highlights the resilience of women and the unbreakable bonds forged when facing adversity.
A word of warning, though, the book is as dark as it is beautiful and has some very explicit descriptions of sexual assault, physical and mental abuse. This isn’t a light summer read, but it’s worth it.
