She is just a commoner, and He is the High King.
When she prepares to curtsy before him, he suddenly stops her.

"You do not curtsy to me." He says.
"Are you not my king?" She replies.
"And are you not my world?"

Scrolling through Instragram reels during reading slump made me read this haha.

It was just okay, not very memorable. The last half felt a bit forced and rushed. I wasn't convinced by the intimacy by the main characters. The smut scenes were less than decent. But overall it was a fun read that stopped my reading slump.

The book will hold you captivated right from the prologue, where you meet the main characters at a party thrown by the prince in Marbella.

It can be termed a modern-day Cinderella story with lots of twists and swoon-worthy moments.
You can feel the chemistry between the main characters, and it will make you scream, 'This is meant to be'.

The book not only shows us the dynamics of a French royalty (a first read for me) but is also very unconventional, and over time you understand why Claire wrote, 'This is a fairytale. Just go with it'.

I really enjoyed the chemistry and also enjoyed the bits of 'Right Person at the Wrong Time' scenes where Elias was in love with Adeline but was bound to the country, the people, the tradition, and the responsibilities. I also enjoyed that there was no negative or schemey character in the whole plot—a very refreshing book.

Although there were characters that I could not fully connect with because we were given very little time with them,

But it was a great pick and a refreshing read.

“Long live the Queen. May she always be by my side, not one step behind,” he said against my lips.
“Long live the King,” I replied just as his lips met mine and he kissed me for all of the world to see.

for me

This book was pretty good. The set up was a tiny bit werid but good. The second half/ towards the end was a little weird as it seem to be a little bit of filler and like it could have ended sooner. But I loved it. I wouldn’t call this enemies to lovers at all. If so at like the very lowest level. Like they weren’t enemies at all like idk why it is labeled as so. Some things were defended confusing and didn’t make sense. Like there were some continuity issues. But the book was good. It wasn’t great for 4 or 5 stars but it was close. There were some plot points that were dumb and held it back from being great. But the couple was cute and I absolutely loved the ending. I’m not sure if I will read the others but maybe. Would love to read another royals plot with a king tho. I would recommend. Again so close to a 4. 3.5/5
