Running Blind

Lee Child

I've often said that the Reacher books are divided into rural and urban settings, but there's a third category: the ones set in what amounts to government bureaucracies. This is arguably the first of those. It feels rather prescient because the reason Reacher gets involved has to do with sexual misconduct in the military -- a theme he will return to again and again over the years.

It was okay but I really didn't care for the reader (audiobook).

The twist again! Omg so twisty twisty. Never ever expected it but it made me gasp out loud after reading for 6.5 hours straight. The mystery made me so so tense but in a good way, and the reveal of the method of killing made me feel viscerally uncomfortable. 10/10 serial killer.

I don't mind Harper, but the whole will they won't they thing was lame. Like either break Jodie and Reacher up or don't. Also the whole "she looks fourteen but she's actually twenty nine" was so weird and gross and setting a pattern for Reacher that I do not like. Also if Lee Child could stop describing her boobs for one singular chapter that would be excellent.

Ultimately I think Reacher and Jodie aren't lasting another book- they barely lasted this one and all it caused was angst and a singular sex scene. Time for Reacher to get back on the road!!

Have been churning through the Jack Reacher series - to date this is my favourite! Great story and Jack is such an interesting character.

This was awesome!

Former military raped Women are being killed and submerged in paint and Reacher is picked up by the FBI, first being accused, then to help them solve the case. There was very little action, all investigation. The FBI are assholes and useless which is par to the time period which was before 9/11 when cell phones had roaming charges (that gave me a chuckle).

But the mystery was really good. I figured out one detail of who it could be but the most obvious detail I missed all together!

The audio book reader was really good. It was a different guy than I have listen to in other books and he was beyond better!

I'm enjoying the series, but this one I guessed the murderer pretty quick.

Despite not being a genre I usually read, this book surprised me in more ways than one. As soon as you start the novel, you are already drawn into what is happening. Lee Child did a really good job showing the readers how the people in the book think, which is important to these kinds of books. The methodology of both Jack Reacher and the antagonist were scary yet intriguing for me. I recommend this book for high school and up because the plot might be little scary for younger people.

Look. I like a good detective story. But this is like Robert Langdon wish fulfillment every woman is super hot and just can’t stay away from him. One per book. Ha. But like the crime was… beyond belief. No. I do not believe.
