This book reminded me that space marines are… kinda boring. Being all stoic and honorable gets old.

There are better 40k books out there: gaunt’s ghosts, ravenor, eisenhorn… and what do they have in common (besides being written by dan abnett)? They don’t have space marines as main characters!

Interesting concept that I really wanted to like but unfortunately not much really happens for most of the book. I think this signalled the start of the process of dragging out the HH series into the unwieldy, bloated mess it is today.
