I didn’t think this book was quite as bad as everyone’s been saying but I also didn’t think it was good. An aging mom and her three adult children, all of whom are estranged, go on a European cruise after the mom wins an essay contest. They’re all hiding secrets from each other. It’s a promising idea in theory but it mostly just made me sad for all the characters. There’s also a tiny twist at the end that never gets resolved which bothered me. I mostly read this one cause I got a skip the line loan from the library and I was curious after seeing so many people not like it.

I just don’t believe this one was for me. The characters, although real, are frustrating and resistant to change and growth. It’s not that the story line is bad or unappealing, I felt frustrated with each of the siblings and the decisions they kept making.

Now that I'm pretty much listening to a book simultaneously while I'm reading another...sometimes the books battle for my attention and compete with one another. I think that it's possible that The Jetsetters lost some points because I was reading books I liked better while listening to this one.
This is the first book by Amanda Eyre Ward that I've read and my 3rd time reading the Reece Witherspoon book club choice while she reads it. For me-this one was predictable and the characters felt like I've met them all before. I liked the quirky narration and characters to some degree. But I didn't care enough about them.
A good beach read, but nothing earth shattering here.

each and every one of the characters was selfish, bratty, and entitled, with zero redeeming qualities. this book exhausted me.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book given that it was written by a 70 year old and wasn't sure I'd be able to connect. But as I got into the book, it wasn't just her view we read, but her children as well. I loved the multiple perspectives of this family and the major issues everyone is dealing with internally that affected their relationships with their own family. I saw a little bit of me and my family as I was reading this and it just made me want to read more. The cruise setting added some excitement, especially since I've been to Rhodes, Greece and it brought me back to all those amazing "jetsetter" feelings. The author described all the locations very well and it took me out of quarantine to these European destinations.
The characters were going through a LOT, mentally... so the only reason not a 5 is because the ending was just too abrupt and "happily ever after." Overall, I loved that I couldn't put the book down and finished it in one day! I would read again and recommend to others!

I really enjoyed this book. It sucked me in right away. It dealt with serious issues that are relatable in many ways.
Without giving anything away, one thing that caught my attention was how the feelings and perceptions of the characters diverged. In life, we often think things are one way when in reality, our perception is skewed based on who we are and our life experiences.
