absolutely beautiful.
i loved how the MCs found a way to communicate even though they didn’t know the other’s language. i was worried that it would bother me, but no complains here.
they are truly an amazing couple.
what did bother me was that there are some unsolved things here, but the author at the end says that we’ll find out in book two.
fair enough.
but it’s been four (4) years and there’s no book two.
this is what frustration is made out of.

spice: 2.5
Tropes/Features: Omegaverse, MPreg, Knotting/Heat, M/M, Aliens, Special Dicks, Mates
Available on Kindle Unlimited
After a terrible break up Dr Cameron Grant decides to sign up to be part of a scientific team that is traveling to another planet to hunt for resources. Thought to have been on an empty planet, it comes as a surprise when out in the jungle he stumbles upon a 7ft purple alien that seems to want to claim him. The group of humans was unaware that something on this planet causes people to turn into alphas or omegas, and soon causes issues between the humans and the aliens populating the area.
This was the gay omegaverse version of Ice Planet Barbarians. Same kind of ridiculous that was just a good time to read. This is low angst and fast paced and under 300 pages. Purple Alien race that has a hard time reproducing stumbles across a group of humans and want to take them as mates as the planet slowly changes their DNA make-up for survival. Had a few grammatical things, and I wish they had gone more into why the change happens, but this was only book 1 in a series of connected stand-alones.

This was a surprisingly fun and sexy story, but after all the amazing books I’ve read lately I’m feeling a little picky, and so I can’t in good conscience give this one full 4 stars. Maybe 3.5? Or 3.25?
There were some of things I really liked: the worldbuilding was great (even though the planet was slightly reminiscent of the one in the movie Avatar), the pacing was very nice (except for that spot of drama near the end — it could’ve been developed into something really good, but instead it felt pretty rushed), and of course, the two MCs had some delicious ust going on, and the sex was HOT.

I picked this up expecting "adequate alien smut" but it didn't quite get there.
It doesn't get super steamy until the end, so it doesn't really qualify as smut -- even though it's very omegaverse-ish, which is all classified as smut in my mind :) -- but that's probably a good thing. I still want relationship development in my smut, and this has that insta-, mate-y, omega-y flavor to it instead.
After trying (and deleting from my TBR after 3 pages without even bother DNF) this author's contemporary smut, I'm pretty sure the scifi setting is the only thing that made this palatable, but that is very lightweight. There are some cool details to the new planet and species, but there's no depth to this.
If you're looking to kill some time with something excessively easy to read, and aliens with omegaverse sex seems like the way to go, sure. Go for it.

I was embarrassed by the title, although that's totally why I read this. It's actually much better than I was expecting. Have a sinking feeling the sequels aren't out yet though...
