Inamorata is another title I got through the Amazon First program. One of the benefits of this program is that it has compelled me to try books I otherwise would never have picked up. Inamorata is certainly a book that would never have been on my radar and I am definitely glad that it crossed my path.
Although it was labeled as "Historical Fiction," it is more of a fantasy story. It is set in Venice in the 1870s, but deals with fantastical elements, predominantly demons. Venice is vividly described and the plot is a real page turner, but what won me over were the interesting and unique characters. Despite the other worldly elements, Inamorata succeeds in making the characters' dilemma feel real.

My first Megan Chance book.I got this book as part of my Amazon Prime Kindle first book (free). I decided to choose this book over the other ones offered that month as it has been set in Venice. Having just returned from a trip to Venice I wanted to read the description of the Venice. The story-line just added to it.
Story started off well, but loses steam soon after and could have been shorter. I loved the description of Venice. The narration felt it was repetitive in a few places.
Overall a good read when you want to relax.

I listened to the audio book and the narrator was fantastic. The story, not so much. It was just a dud.
Megan Chance was on my radar 'cause The Portrait comes up a bit in the HR subs. And then I happened to find this on KU so gave it a go. And it was surprisingly good! Well-written and I loved the Venice setting. I guess I have a thing for twincest. Interesting riff on the vampire mythos.
Another book delivered to me a few years back from the Kindle First program. Honestly, I didn't think I was going to make it through this book. I was ready to declare this to be my very first DNF at 27%, but I pushed through and I was pleasantly surprised. This book, in that first ⅓, was excruciatingly slow. Every sentence was heavy-handed with a dollop too much of an attempt at allure. It was almost there, but not quite. Frankly, the book was trying too hard, and allowed the exposition to meander along for far too long. But, once I emerged from that first third and settled into the characters and setting (once they both settled into themselves), the atmosphere took care of itself. The allure was far more unaffected and organic to the story, once anchored within the pages. The tone felt better, the pacing improved, and the dialogue flowed naturally in the story.
Good read but long
I did enjoy this book but it felt as though it took far too long to get to the end. It felt that there was a lot of information repeated over and over again. Am I sad I read it? No. Am I sad it took 400 pages to get to the end? Yes.

I loved this book. I didn't realize how long it had been since I was taken with a story until I finished it. A stunning world was created and I'm honored to have been a part of it.
I asked 12 friends for a recommendation for 2015. This was my best friend's rec. I'm so glad I'd been to Venice. Chance depicts the sensory experience beautifully. This was an intriguing book no one that I would recommend. 4.5 stars.
This was very intriguing...it was a free book sent to my kindle, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I certainly learned what a succubus is! This takes place in Venice 1879. The story of a man trying to stop the succubus...and the twin sister and her artist brother who hope to be discovered in Venice. The book was hard to put down - and I never would have guessed the ending.
