I absolutely adored Tilly and Ollie and their story. This book really helps you see things from their perspective and more about how they cope and live in a world where everyone tries to fit a certain mold.
while not made for me, it was still quite enjoyable.
things i really liked:
- good adhd & autistic representation
- believable relationships (..mostly)
- a good arc for the mc
- anti traditional schooling in truly the perfect way

This young adult/ new adult love story about two neurodivergent 18 year Olds is adorable.
Tilly has ADHD and Oliver is autistic. The representation here is very good, with the realities of each being highlighted without resorting to stereotypes (ie the autistic character is not an unfeeling robot).
I absolutely adored Oliver. It's rare that a male autistic character is portrayed as artistic and creative!
Tilly was harder to like. At times I thought maybe the ADHD aspect was overplayed a bit. Some of her behavior was VERY childish, but she's only 18! Still, because I am an adult I found it hard to relate to Tilly. At times I even commiserated with her mom!
Because of this, I struggled to find Tilly a good role model for young adults, which is one of my requirements for a young adult/new adult novel. Everything works out for her in the end, but it isn't realistic at all. Everything Tilly wants falls into her lap without much effort. She's also weirdly ungrateful for the opportunities she's given, which is frustrating. I get that it's part of representing the moods of ADHD, but at times it felt more like insolence and immaturity than a demonstration of RSD or emotional dysregulation.
I think Tilly and her blessed life is what keeps me from giving this 5 stars and recommending it to every young woman I meet.
The relationship in this is ALL GREEN FLAGS, so that is something. Come for the rep and romance, but ignore the ridiculous bratty girl getting her dream life just because she's soooooo speeeeecial.

What a beautiful story of two beautifully unique neurodiverse teens. Understanding who you are, feeling comfortable to be yourself, and being proud of your differences can be a challenge, but Tilly and Oliver show it's possible. Bonus points for Europe travel, lots of humor, and great family relationships (that also take work).

discovering a new color of the rainbow everyday.”
This was a really sweet book. I loved the autistic and ADHD representation. Ollie and Tilly were precious together! The internship at Ruhe seemed to be dropped at times but otherwise it was a great read.
