My blog KingReadings saw it here first!
Ultimately this did nothing for me. While I understood from an author’s perspective why you would want to write this, and in that regard the writing was very good, the information given to us is everything that we knew so ended up feeling pointless. The most interesting idea mentioned is the royal family and their relationships & identity, but that really isn’t delved in satisfactorily, which is understandable because it’s not the point of the novella. I’m also beginning to think that Aveyard’s way of writing dialogue doesn’t work with me, especially in regards to romance. While she’s okay with writing about friendships, there’s no spark that really convinces me that it’s a romance.

“She found no such place—instead she found a person.”
I have always wanted to read this for Corraine and I loved it!! I've also enjoyed reading the background stories and the past of the characters of books that I enjoyed and this is one of those. Also enjoyed the scenes of Corraine and Tiberias the Sixth <3

This is just a prequel , but it gives us an insight of Coriane, which is someone’s mother
I definitely liked that this short story chronicled the short Queenship of Corianne, as it brought a little backstory into the picture to understand Cal a little more. I liked Corianne well enough at first, but then I realized what a pathetic person she is. I'm sorry, but how much self-pity can one have? I guess at the end it was all Elara after all (hoping we get more details on how Elara achieved this in other books...), but ugh I started feeling like jumping off a cliff when reading this.
