I read Red Queen for the first time a couple of days ago and loved it so much. When I found out that Queen Song was about Cal’s mum I just had to read it to know about her character.
The story was really interesting and emotional. I loved meeting the different characters as well as the one’s that were introduced in Red Queen.
Following Coriane from the age of 15 was interesting. It got me to understand what she was like, and how Julian and Sara were in their friendships. When we met Tiberias in Red Queen I didn’t really like him. However, in Queen Song you see and different side to him and see the love between Coriane and Tiberias blossom.
When Julian mentioned in Red Queen that Mave reminded him of Coriane I understood why. Coriane had sarcasm, love for the people who mean so much to her, kindness, strength and many more traits. And think that’s what’s very unique about Mave in Red Queen.
There was many sad moments in Queen Song, that you just wished never happened. And by the time you got to the end of the story, you just know you would need to take a breather. Coriane’s story was emotional, full of love for her brother, her best friend, her lover and her son. And you get to see how much she had had to battle through and cope with while beginning her new life with Tiberias. It just makes the story more emotional after knowing what happens in Red Queen and the understandings of choices too x

While this series is enjoyable, this particular novel was full of unlikeable people described in equally unlikeable language.
This was a great read and it kept my attention the whole time. I would've liked a few more details about the ending but I was pleased with how it finished. I'd recommend it :)
Loved reading this story again, and yeah, hard to read knowing how it would end, but yeah, really great read!

It was just a bit sad to read this novella, knowing how things are in about 20 years in the first book. But it was really interesting to have these insights into the previous generation!

Oooof, did this have a haunting and depressing ending! But, of course, I already knew the ending of Coriane's story thanks to Red Queen. This novella is very short, though -- only six chapters and about 55 pages. I enjoyed learning more about Coriane's life and personality, as well as getting to see Julian in a different light. It was also really nice to learn which parts of Cal's personality were inherited from his mother and to learn how Coriane ended up marrying Tibe -- although it wasn't really the sort of happy story I anticipated, from what I learned in Red Queen. It was refreshing, though, to see the author's work for a different character and perspective!
So, is it possible to rate a book ten billion stars? Because if you can this novella deserves it. This was my favorite Cruel Crown story because throughout the progression of the original series as Corraine's story was developed she became one of my favorite characters, especially after you see her diary entry in War Storm. I felt as though the things she went through were unbelievably difficult but yet she pushed through until the end (does anyone have to ask why I hate Elara so much?!), I am a person who thirsts for strong female characters and Corraine gave that to me. (I will probably go on an Elara rant soon)
A re-read, because I haven't read the last book yet, but it's due for one.
Loved this little novella based before Red Queen, learned a lot of things, that I forgot about.
