I LOVED THIS BOOK! I wish there were books like when I was younger. Julián (Jules) was inside the closet and then came out. I hate that his dad kicked him out because of Jules being gay. I am so happy that Jules older sister Xo was there for him. I love Jules friends ground so much. I love how supportive they were and how they were always there for him. I also loved Jules and Mat relationship. Jules and Mat were in a long distance relationship until the very end of the book.

Favorite Quote:
“You’re my moonlight, Julián Luna. A brightness in the dark. I knew if I kept trying, one day I’d reach out and you’d be there. You’d be here.”

“Then you’re my sunshine, Mặt Trời Pham. Since the day I met you, when I would wake up feeling scared, anxious, or alone, you’ve been my warmth and clarity. I’m lucky you found me.” “I’m lucky you finally allowed yourself to be seen.”

“You’re my Moonlight, Jules Luna. Always.”

Endearing, poignant, heartwarming and immensely hopeful story of a teen who finds strength in his friends, family...and in himself.

This was a cute y/a romance. It wasn’t anything new to me really in terms of plot but it was super adorable and im sure many people will relate to it.

I really enjoyed this book! I had no idea what it was going to be about going into it but I absolutely adored it.

The story follows Jules, a gay Latino teenager who accidentally comes out on Twitter during a drunken night. He also meets another gay teen his age online and they form an instant connection! Jules is also dealing with stuff like college apps, a disapproving father, and being miles away from his only online gay friend.

I really loved the friend group in this story. I am always a SUCKER for Found Family, and the way this character finds family in his best friends and sister. I don't know which one of his friends I like more!

I also really enjoyed how this story covered online dating and long-distance relationships. The main character and love interest met over Twitter, and I feel like it's becoming more and more common to meet up with friends that we've met over the Internet. I love how this book tackled this experience!

I didn't give the book 5 stars because of a few minor things. The main character gets into a fight with his best friend for a stupid reason imo. And the main character also has a hard time trusting his boyfriend with the problems in his life (this is so hard for me to understand bc I go to my boyfriend with all my problems lol). And also, the end trailed a little too long for me.

Overall, I really recommend it!

This was aggressively cute, but also incredibly heartbreaking. There were some very real and raw emotions shown throughout this book, and I wanted to give Jules a hug so many different times. There was one point where Jules was comparing his life to the movies and my heart just fully ached for him.

Overall a very lovely book and one that I can definitely see becoming a sort of YA classic.

This book made my heart so warm and full. I love Jules and Mat, I love their love and the people they have in their lives. It’s been a while since I’ve been THIS invested in two fictional characters’s relationship

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for one digital copy in exchange of an honest review.

I LOVED THIS ONE. It's been a while since I read such a cute story. Luna got my attention from the very beginnings, but the best one was Matt, he's such a perfect an understanding boyfriend and it made my heart melt. I loved this debut from Jonny Garza, and also the trigger warnings are the beginning where kind of cute and sensible. I don't know, I wasn't expecting to like this book that much, but I found all the characters very relatable, the plot was great even if it wasn't incredible, and I liked the writing becase you could feel it. It's obvious that the author put much of him in the book and that made the connection with the book bigger. I loved the ending, also that not everything worked out and it was way more realistic -not gonna say what not to make spoilers-. So glad to have read this book. Besides, It made me cry because It made me compare it with my own relationship and at times it was hard to read it but that only means that it was really well written and built up.

I stumbled across this one in my Kindle Unlimited trial and I really liked it! It's a bit quiet and low-drama (apart from the dad), but the relationship between Julian and Mat is super sweet and somewhat idealistic. The real world obstacles aren't avoided, just resolved fairly easily. It's the kind of warm and fuzzy that I needed. Plus, I loved all of the characters, especially Julian's supportive straight male friends.

My only ding is that the writing style takes a while to get used to. There are a lot of sentence fragments that could/should just be clauses in the previous sentence, so it can read choppy in places. And it slips into passive voice occasionally for no added value. But after a while I grew accustomed to the voice so it stopped bothering me.

*NOT SPOILER FREE*

this book was so, so wonderful to read. maybe i'm just pessimistic, but i spent the entire novel waiting for something to go wrong with mat and jules. the fact that they made it through jules' senior year, that they had such supportive families, that they grew the way they did... it was extremely beautiful to see. moreover, jules had such amazing and well-rounded friends to be by his side; seeing jordan, lou, itzel, and roe support him the way they did was heartwarming to the extreme. xo also was an amazing, incredible character to see, being a big sister myself to a messy 18 year old.

one last thing i will say about 1500 miles is that i am beyond glad that jules moved on from his father. i find that sometimes queer novels are unrealistic to me in that sense, when the parent turns out accepting and ready to understand by the end of it because, in reality, change is not that simple. it was refreshing and validating to see this progression in jules' story.

nothing about 1500 miles was predictable and i saw none of it coming, but i am so glad that i got to go on this journey with jules and mat and all the gang.
