This is my first Kennedy Ryan book, and it won't be my last! She has absolutely become an auto-buy author for me!
The fact that this book came with a playlist, a recipe, and it was a story within a story, absolutely did it for me!
It's so easy for a story within a story to go sideways, but this was beautifully done, and the fact that both stories were parallel even though the time frames were very different but the underlying humanity, loss, familial and romantic relationships, health, self-esteem, outside validation and emotional intelligence was explored beautifully.
Canon Holt has propelled himself straight into my top 5 book boyfriends of all time. His emotional intelligence, softness, yet stern, was so stunning to see. Especially when he was expressing his feelings, thoughts, and the way his mind works to unravel and showcase a story was phenomenal.
Neevah Mathias was a 10 out of 10 woman! She reminded me of all the emotions we go through with your bodies, our health, our work, our appearance, setting boundaries, and daring to choose your own path. She's absolutely a woman to be reckon with!
I'm super excited for the next book in the series!

*Reel* is a passionate, emotionally layered dual POV romance that follows Canon Holt—a driven, perfectionist film director—and Neevah Saint, a Broadway understudy who lands the role of a lifetime as the lead in Canon’s Harlem Renaissance biopic.
What begins as a professional collaboration transforms into something far more intimate. Both Canon and Neevah are carrying wounds: she’s healing from heartbreak and quietly managing a chronic illness, while he’s protecting himself from past pain. Their chemistry is instant, but what truly moved me was the tenderness and vulnerability that unfolded between them as they learned to trust again.
This story isn’t just about falling in love—it’s about claiming space, honoring legacy, and finding the courage to be seen in your full truth. Kennedy Ryan writes with depth, grace, and fire. Her prose is cinematic and soulful, and *Reel* is a shining example of why she’s one of my favorite authors. She simply never misses.

A wonderful journey! I will definitely read again. There are so many tidbits that deserve an anchor…as you travel from current day to past.
A beautiful love story and tribute to Ms. Dessi Blue and the Harlem Renaissance.

This is my first Kennedy Ryan read. I am a forever reader. This book is about healing, growth, self love and self realization. Finding yourself and finding your person and also your peace. Reading this book in four days happened to fall in the days of my own growth, healing and forgiving journey.

Kennedy Ryan is the GOAT of all romance authors. How is it that a romance writer teaches me about important things, gets me kicking my feet with the spice, and has me in tears during every single book!?!
