I think we did this one this one too early. An older child would find miss trunchbull humorous but Abby was just afraid of her.

Read with the kids. Possibly a bit too wordy for a nearly 6 year old but they both listened and engaged with it.

I just wanna start off this review by saying - I grew up watching Matilda. There was a period of my life where I watched nothing but this movie for a year straight. I LOVED it. And the book, like always, was so much better. The absolute nostalgia I felt and pure happiness while reading this book was something that will be unmatched for awhile.

I was IMPRESSED reading this movie, and seeing how the movie follows the book almost to a pure t. You don’t see that that often anymore, and I was just joyful.

Now that we got that out of the way-
This book follows Matilda, a super intelligent and smart kiddo. I always thought she was so cool for being independent and taking care of herself, but now I realize it was straight up neglect and that makes my little heart hurt.

I do wanna say, I am incredibly happy that she got the ending she deserved. Most kids, and I mean the majority, don’t get the ending they deserve like Matilda did. This was such a bittersweet book. I would recommend anyone read this book, and even watch the movie. Doesn’t even matter what order, they are both incredibly impressive and enjoyable!

I took this book on to meet the "A Childhood Classic You Never Read" item. I can definitely see the appeal for little kids-- Matilda overthrowing the Headmistress from Hell, Agatha Trunchbull made me want to cheer too! As an adult, it's the story of a child who learns that even with horrible, awful parents-- and that even when you're an adult with horrible, awful caretakers in your past like Miss Honey-- you can move on, and that's the story an emotionally abused young 20-something needed.

yes.

Cute! Gave me all the nostalgic feels. Reread from childhood, now must watch the movie.

Me gustó. Claramente es un libro infantil de otra época, con otros estereotipos y problemas. Matilda es encantadora y te da ganas de leer más sobre sus aventuras y su ingenio.
