It was fine. That’s it. Just fine. Their dialogue seemed very childish at times. Nothing remarkable about the MMC.

i reread this book after 2 years of the last and first time i read it, the first time, i thought this was a very boring and long book, and now i think exactly the same (i had to skip so many pages of nothing, i literally didn't miss anything, i didn't even remember what the plot was exactly and i still feel like i got everything i needed to know with all the skipping i did) what i hadn't rememebered though was the chemestry bewteen the two main characters, i loved their banter, Rose was so funny and Jack was not an asshole, this surprised me because i remember thinking he was (well, he because what he did was actually kinda scary if it were real life). But there was no plot, i mean, sure, Jack did some very questionable stuff, but it didn't really pop up much during the lenght of the book, it was just a love story developing (loved the love story, like idgaf about what Jack did) under barely any mystery, or conflict. It was an eh book, but i liked it better than the first time i read it, so i'm taking my two star rate to a 2.5/3 star just because i fell in love with Rose, too.

3.5 stars, nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either, slightly boring because there was 0 plot and was very cliche but overall it wasn't a bad read. One thing I kind of didn't like is how much he calls her Rose, Rose this, Rose that, you would think he was in love with her name more than her lol

Grumpy Sunshine get married.

Grumpy Sunshine is really becoming my favorite trope. Where can I get a Jack? Is there a store? Is it an online situation? I agree with Rose about Jack rolling up his sleeves, it is porn. I love the way Jack and Rose acted around each other, they were so adorable. Also, can we talk about Rose’s smile counter for Jack, that was so cute. I want some to care for me the same way Jack did for Rose. This book just the right amount of spice too. This book is a definite must read for everyone.

“That's how the universe works: it gives you the one thing you said you'd never want.”

I’m a bit conflicted on this one. On the one hand, there were a lot of really cute moments between the two main characters, especially in the beginning, but on the other hand… I’m just not sure.

The marriage of convenience premise was great, as was everything to do with the coffee shop, and I really liked Rose’s spirit and independence. There were also times when Jack was really sweet and thoughtful, but overall, he was just a bit too distant for me. Plus he lowkey gave me stalker vibes the way he thought about how he got Rose to agree in the marriage. So, a bit uncomfy. Especially because that whole thing led to the wonderful miscommunication trope being the culprit for the big blowup at the end.

My favorite part was at the gala, where Rose talked to those little girls—for a while there, I thought we were gonna get a cute fostering situation, but then the plot took a 180 with the illness, which...I just don’t know what that whole plotline added to the story. Maybe it was just the wrong time for me to read this book—I got major deja vu reading about the surgery because, coincidences of coincidences, I just so happened to be recovering from a medical procedure myself while reading that part, so it felt super strange to see a fictional character going through something so similar. But it also just dragged out the second half of the book unnecessarily, and the last few chapters just left me feeling weird and confused and no longer really rooting for the relationship.

I’m sad to give this a low rating, because I really really wanted to love this. But the characters and story just weren’t for me, and the writing got kind of repetitive. Alas. On to find my next favorite non-Zapata slow-burn.
