needed a break from fantasy this was cute but i really didn’t like how he kept mentioning that he was lying to her like usually i’m fine with predictable endings but this annoyed the hell out of be but anyways this was mid
I have never been so happy to hear about a man smiling in my life. Jack Hawthorne is perfect.
the drama at the end was so unnecessary, would have been 5 stars if not for it tbh
“Your heart always has a home with me, Rose. No matter what, never forget that.” I’m screaming into my pillow. Jack and Rose officially have a special spot in my heart. Those two stubborn and hard headed idiots. I love them and I absolutely love this book.
Decent book. Plot-twist wasn't super exciting. Guy was kinda hot tho.
The slow burn was SO good! I loved the characters and their relationship. They were perfectly developed. I also enjoyed how their fake marriage came to be, even though I wasn’t a huge fan on how it was resolved. I would have also liked to see more of the side characters. However, I still loved it. Jack & Rose were great MCs and their romance was beautiful.
that's it, i'm finally giving up at the 67% mark after putting it of for (shocking!) half a year. This book started out pretty good for me, it's interesting and the protagonists were cute but, towards the middle of it, there was a sudden (and in my opinion, totally uncalled for) . So yeah, it was a bucket of cold water in an otherwise warm story for me, so I shelved it and said I'd finish it some other time. Now, after months of putting it off, I decided to pick it back up so i wouldn’t bring it to 2023 with me. Sadly, the story's spark was all gone for me, it turned into a chore, the characters started getting on my nerves, which makes me sad bc i was enjoying it. The only thing that makes me want to continue is finding out what the H's big secret is but judging by people's reviews here, is nothing really shocking. It also took me far too long to realize they're named Jack and Rose. As I tend to do, i won't rate this since i didn't finish it, but i was having a good time so pick it up and see for yourself! Who knows, it might become your favorite romance of the year!
Spoiler
illness plot. Really, there was no need for that. And while I'm not someone with a lot of triggers, I despise illness plots; even more so, when their only reason is to benefit the plot and nothing else
like a 2.5 read??? idk didn't like it that much it was painful to read the ending
I felt unimpressed with this entire relationship. Sure it was sweet when she was sick and he helped her through her fear, but I happen to know they offer Valium to people who are claustrophobic for MRIs. In some ways they fit together well; she enjoyed his grumpiness and fake arguing. However, she didn’t give in this relationship. There needed to be some growth on her part realizing he had emotional needs that needed to be met as well.
I also thought it was a huge missed opportunity that she never confronted her cousins or ex to stand up for herself. She still depended on him to do so.
There was potential in the initial story, it just wasn’t executed well.
