Okay but this book how no right being as good as it was! It has steamy, it has sweetness, it has plot twist, it has emotional moments, both good and bad, all wrapped up in a freaking good actual plot
Honestly can’t go wrong with this one. Just yes.

This book was 3.5 stars for me. It was okay, the little secret that Jack had was a bit anti-climatic and the whole interaction between Jack and Rose got too cringey for my taste.

Should've concluded around 300 pages instead of 500 since the end results would've been the same. There wasn't anything in particular that stood out with this read. The typical millionaire marrying the down in the dumps girl struggling to make ends meet before they strike a deal that benefits both parties if they married which is a typical trope that has been used and recycled too many times to count. So to speak, it you read them once, you've read them all and to be completely honest I was surprised to see all the high rated reviews this has received. Don't get me wrong it wasn't completely awful and was an overall decent read but I wouldn't call this a must read, get it while you can 5 star rating.
Did I start this not realising it was 500+ pages… yes
Did I continue even though I’m in a slump and it’s 500+ also yes.
I’m not usually a fan of slow burn, usually only when it’s done it correctly, and this was the case.
I was trying to absolute best not so squeal throughout the majority of this. It has my favourite tropes, grumpy/sunshine, marriage for convenience, jack, fake dating. All the best things!
I love how jack started this with full intentions that nothing was going to happen for 2 years despite having a crush on her immediately and paying for her fishy fiancé to break up with her.
Ngl do I want my boyfriend to stand outside my place of work after an argument so I wouldn’t be alone? Yes…
When she got ill I nearly screamed at how worried he was and so protective with the mri. We love a man who will stroke your ankle while you’re having a panic attack!
There was some parts where I thought it was needed and when she forgave him it was a little underwhelming but overall I really loved this book!!

“After all, I was Rose, and he was Jack. We were doomed from the beginning with those names. You know... the Titanic and all that.”
This was such a beautiful story. It’s wonderful when you’re able to go into a book and already know that you are going to absolutely love it. I knew from the very first sentence that Ella Maise would make me fall desperately in love with her characters once again. From the moment Jack and Rose tied the knot, I was a goner.
“Not every marriage is about love. What had love offered me anyway other than heartbreak and late night emotional eating?”
I haven’t read many marriage of convenience stories, but this one was pretty great and it’s setting the bar pretty high for any other ones that may catch my eye in the future. If marriage of convenience and slow burns are your thing, I cannot recommend this beauty enough. It was such a wonderful read!
Rose is quirky and confident. She has her weaknesses like any other person, but she’s sure of herself and what she wants. She’s the embodiment of happiness and sunshine in such a great way and I absolutely LOVED her!
Jack, on the other hand, is one hundred percent Rose’s opposite. Broody, quiet, always has a scowl on his face, serious, and reserved. He gave me all the Mr. Darcy vibes. Plus, just look at him on the cover of the book - you can’t say no to that!
“The number of times Jack Hawthorne smiled: zero.”
When Jack propositions Rose with a business deal, which requires them getting married, Rose reluctantly accepts the offer and so begins a marriage of convenience with the best slow burn that only Ella Maise knows how to create.
Jack tries to keep his distance in the beginning while Rose tries to make sure they at least have a friendship, especially since they are “married” and will have to live with each other for a few years. Their every day interactions made me so giddy. Jack’s scowls and his coldness - trying to keep Rose at arms length (Mr. Darcy vibes *wink, wink*). Rose’s optimism and openness - trying to build a friendship with Jack.
The slow burn was what I lived for and when they noticed they had started growing feelings for each other, I was at the edge of my seat - super invested and unable to stop reading.
“No one had ever kissed me like Jack Hawthorne did, and I didn’t think I ever wanted to find out if there was anyone else out there who could.”
I jumped for joy when Jack finally smiled, I rejoiced when they finally gave into their feelings, and I cried when they said they loved each other. I absolutely loved Jack and Rose Hawthorne’s story and I’m sure you will too!
“Somewhere in between all the pretending, I completely fell for you, and I can’t even think of my life without you in it.”
*A huge thanks to Ella Maise and Social Butterfly PR for sending me and eARC of this wonderful story! All thoughts are my own.*

2.54⭐
No
Way T O O O O Slow. It's official im Not a fan of slowburn. I wanted to scream at times when nothing happened and there were still too many soo much unnecessary words yet to read through.
And Jack was nowhere near sexy and brooding enough to make the suffering worth it. Rose wasn't the worst so that's a plus, but No.
Want my time back.

loved!
Not sure what took me so long to read this book- it’s been on my kindle for the longest time. But I’m really glad I finally got around to reading it. This book was really special. I loved Jack and Rose.

Was this book perfect? Absolutely not. It is still getting those 5 stars from me. I ate it up.
It wasn’t bad, but it was about 30-50% too long, and I know it’s pedantic of me, but it bothered me every time Jack said (or worse, wrote) “gonna” instead of “going to.” It just didn’t mesh with his personality and jolted me out of the story every time it happened.
