IDK HOW I WENT THIS LONG WITHOUT JACK HAWTHORNE.
this book was SOSOSO good im still not over it. the marriage of convience trope was beautiful. the groveling, amazing. the romance, TOP TIER.
i enjoyed every last second of this book and now it’s going to be one of my absolute favs of 2022.

THAT "SIGN THE PAPERS" SCENE ALMOST TOOK ME OUT.
I know I'm supposed to explain my rating here but I always feel like I'm justifying my rating and then I start regretting it so I really just have a love-hate relationship with rating books. This was a very fun read, with the perfect amount of drama and heartbreak (cue in "you're breaking my heart, baby" scene) and the perfect amount of romance. However, the characters simply didn't do it for me as others did. Recommend it though!

Thanks to this book I now have an irrationnal fear of runny noses
Other than that it's a pretty good book

i had a dislike-loved-kinda bored relationship with this book while reading it. throughout the beginning i thought that it focused too many times on jack looking amazing and rose being a mess. I didn’t think there was was enough context in the beginning to understand why this expressionless man was offering to marry rose so that was kind of weird and made it difficult for me to like jack. it got to be too repetitive with the coffee shop scenes and the after work scenes. and then the runny nose at dinner was SO DRAMATIC. and when rose’s nose issues come up again i know that it turns out to be a bigger (and pretty scary) issue, i just hate that she was always so ashamed to be talking to her fake husband about a runny nose. the first half of the book had me wanting to give it a 2/5 rating because I really wasn’t sure if it was a good read for me.
that being said, the book REALLY picked up for me once rose and jack started attending the doctors appointments together because it was a big change in scenery and jack’s walls finally started to come down. he was finally laughing and smiling and really supporting rose. I just feel like his character took a complete 180 and I really started to like him. when the big conflict happened I was pretty confused, and got a little bored again once they were in the midst of their fighting and then making up.
overall I didn’t like the beginning half and I wasn’t so hooked that I was able to read through the last few chapters in one sitting, but I actually really loved the middle parts rose’s health issues and jack supporting her and showing that he was in love with her.

3.5 stars! I was SO into this in the first half, but as the book went on it really started to drag and I'm SAD. I'm definitely still interested in reading more from Ella Maise because I truly was so into the tension between the characters, but the book as a whole just went on too long for me. Womp :(
okay listen, this book is long but it could’ve been longer and I would’ve read all of it. I am obsessed with Jack and Rose. I think this is one of those couples that I will think about years from now and just look fondly on the time that I read this book.
The writing style was so good, and the characters were so well developed, and I loved the relationship, and how it started with Jack, just being completely standoffish with Rose, and her kind of pushing his buttons to the point where he finally gave in and talked to her, and they truly just cared about each other so much and that was just so special to read
anyways i love them
