4.5 I loved watching Jack and Rose slowly fall for each other. The only reason it’s not a five star is that the final conflict was resolved too quickly in my opinion.
Cliched Byronic hero romance that could have been half the length.
While I am over the “he’s a jerk to everyone but me” trope, this book was sooooo good. I hated the details of the conflict, and thought a lot of it was unnecessary. But this book had it all..loved it. Definitely 5 stars!
it could’ve been 100-200 pages shorter. but still very cute

tense
medium-paced

This book was fine, I’d consider it average. I thought there would be more substance to it considering its length but there wasn’t much to it. I’m not sure I’d recommend it to others due to its length. I also felt like there were some plot holes- unresolved issues with the cousins, consequences for the ex, all of the health related issues, etc. It felt like we skimmed over a solution and then just moved on.
I really thought that I would like this one more. I feel like there wasn't much going on in the fact that there wasn't much to the story aside from the main characters in their own bubble. The outside "evil" forces like her ex and her cousins didn't really hold any power. They truly are backseat to the point that their "evilness" is nothing because the MMC paid them off. The ex showing up for the third time and exposing Jack's deception was the tipping point but by then I'm just like...okay? Rose is only mad at him for a chapter or so before coming to the realization that it doesn't matter. She claims she is still upset but still wants to be with him. I almost wish she just said she didn't care and that there was something that she was hiding that put this story in a twist.
I will say that what was captivating is that Jack and Rose have a good banter and it is cute to see them both struggle to express their feelings. The slow burn in this book was actually really nice. They have steamy scenes in the last 10 percent of the book which then felt like it was too much because it was all shoved in there.
Overall, a good read that I enjoyed.

Jack and Rose made my heart swoon. The epilogue honestly broke me in the best way. I love them so much. Let the book hangover begin!
