“Let the spirit of history be our guide.” Loved learning about history and its value through the interwoven timelines of past and present. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

I was excited to pick up TopShelf Comix new release, March, the story of US Congressman John Lewis. With stunning illustrations, it's Lewis' story. But it’s much more than that. It’s the story of civil rights, a reflection on the Jim Crow laws and the history of segregation in America.

I've lived in Nashville my whole life and have never ONCE learned about the march on the state capitol or the sit-ins at downtown Nashville restaurants. I'm sad that these pieces of history were left out of my education, as they're essential to understanding where I come from. I'm so happy to learn about it now, though, and to learn about such influential figures as John Lewis. I'm hopeful that a new generation of Tennesseans in Nashville will, through books like this, have a more diverse and complete picture of the history of their city and state.

Powerful, moving book. I read a digital copy, though, and some of the text was small, which made it a bit difficult to read. Absolutely will read part two, though!

Brilliant. Such a great way to explore how a man's life was shaped by a movement and vice versa. I'm looking forward to reading the next two volumes.
