Erikson is relentlessly original, which is in my opinion the main thing he has going for him, but his prose is, well, relentless in a not-so-good way. A tone of weariness/resignation persists for all 800+ pages of this book, and it becomes so emotionally monotonous that the story never gets beyond "interesting," despite all it has going for it plot-wise. I'll probably eventually continue on with the series, but I'm not in any particular hurry.
Après une deuxième lecture, des années après le première, j’ajoute sans hésiter une étoile. Un chouïa trop long mais tellement jubilatoire !

So epic but I did really struggle with some sections. Definitely looking forward to continuing the series, trusting that it'll all come together
