Le mari De toni décède, ce qui l'amène à déménager dans un autre quartier avec sa fille Evie. Cette dernière doit changer d'école alors que sa mère commence un nouvel emploi. Evie n'aime pas son école ni les gens qui s'y trouvent et Toni rencontre de nouvelles personnes qui ne lui voudront pas toutes du bien. Après une journée chargée, Toni va chercher sa fille à l'école mais n'y arrive pas à temps. Le temps qu'elle arrive, Evie a disparu.
J'ai bien aimé la façon dont l'histoire était amenée. Les allers-retours entre les trois années se suivaient bien et j'ai apprécié d'être menée en bateau par l'auteure quant à un personnage, à défaut d'en dire plus pour ne pas ruiner le mystère!
Par contre, peut-être n'étais-je pas assez concentrée lors de ma lecture, c'est le type de livre qui, une fois lu est vite oublié. Je sais pertinemment que dans quelque temps, j'aurai de la difficulté à expliquer l'intrigue à quelqu'un. Ce roman se lisait quand même bien et j'ai tout de même passé un bon moment.

I love KL Slater! The audiobooks are the best and get me through any horrible traffic day in Dallas. Honestly, the people here drive like there’s an actual Godzilla chasing them but who cares bc I have the soothing sounds of suspense and thriller coming from KL Slater over my car speakers.
Narrator on audible is great! Storyline is so interesting and honestly didn’t catch a wind of any of the twists (ok except 1) but the other twists were MINDBLOWING!

Roman écouté en livre audio. Un « thriller » de plus de huit heures qui aurait aisément tenu dans la moitié. Le retournement aux 3/4 du livre est assez bien ficelé, mais ne parvient malheureusement pas à rescaper la longueur et la finale tirée par les cheveux.
Un roman banlieusard abordant des thématiques (les responsabilités parentales, l’addiction aux médicaments de prescription, la perte d’un conjoint) trop près du quotidien à mon goût.

Too much rambling on about nothing. Again a story line that had potential but wasn’t executed due to too much blabla. This could. Have been written in 20 pages.

What the hell was this

I just keep thinking about this bloody book and I’m actually getting fired up. Why is it even called Blink?? I don’t understand; ok, it misleads readers into thinking the little girl got literally kidnapped “in the blink of an eye”, but even if it was done with this purpose in mind, WHY THE FUCK TITLE THE BOOK AFTER AN EVENT THAT SEEMS SO GODDAMN MINUSCULE AFTER EVERYTHING THAT THE AUTHOR DECIDED TO PUT IN THIS.
And don't even get me started on that, this is not even a story, these are just little planets that just so happened to be in the same orbit, apparently, for absolutely no reason other than just be there. There were so many bizarre things, weird “explanations” that deserved their very own explanations and the main event (the girl missing) doesn’t even end up being the main event in the book!
I’m directly quoting the book so precaution for spoilers is advised!
He’d tripped on an uneven paving stone and stumbled under the wheels of a red London bus on Oxford Street when Harriet was just five years old. There is absolutely no way this is actually for real, do you really mean to tell me that this woman’s father DIED because he tripped and just so happened to lay on the ground exactly as a bus was passing by. Are you actually serious? This is an absolute insult to the readers credulity.
INCONSISTENCIES GALORE. One of the characters says at least 2 times things that her sister did/has but then directly says she doesn’t have a sister so which is it? Does she or does she not? Editor where are you?? Does Slater even have an editor?
Everything about this book is so surreal and dumb and in absolutely no way at least 80% of the things that happened would actually happen or work in the real world, I’m actually about to cry in frustration.
