It was okay, I guess. It was the kind of book that made me pause for very long periods of time before I actually remembered that I was reading it. It was very cinematic, meaning that I actually was able to imagine everything in the book like a movie. But it was also very predictable.

Interesting series with fun young characters (although the adults are very stereotypical and one-dimensional). The puzzles the kids encounter are fun. The narrator was a lot too high energy for me--every conversation is a fight or carries an impending doom feeling--so I didn't rate it as high as I might have.

So I picked this up because I heard that it was the perfect book after reading Percy Jackson. Little did I know that whoever said that was totally correct! This book was amazing!! Jack and Percy have so many things in common and all of the characters were just amazing to get to know. I loved the Percy Jackson series and I can tell that I'm going to love The Seven Wonders. Definitely five stars and I highly recommend it!

2.5.

This book was adventurous, sure, but kind of boring and half the time I didn't know what was going on. Disappointing read, tbh.

It took me FOREVER to finish this book.

Happy reading!

Okay, so this book was just alright. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I can't say that everything made sense. It is the first book in a series, so maybe it's not all clear because of that? I did like the main characters. I was happy to discover that they weren't just idly sitting by and believing everything about being a chosen few. But, they still have no idea if they are on the good side of bad side. And to be truthful, neither am I. It's quite possible that they organization that they are with is a little of bother. The story is full of adventure and a lot of near death/ past-death-but-magically-brought-back-to-life esacpades. There is the mystery and codes that need to be solved. I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped that I would, but enjoyed it enough to continue on with the series at some point.

A friend of mine, who (like me) is a fan of Rick Riordan's works, once told me that I shouldn't bother with this series because it would only let me down - especially if I was only looking into it because it was similar to the Percy Jackson series. Now that I've read the first one, I have to say she wasn't completely wrong to tell me this; the first 10 chapters or so were just complete nonsense, and I still can't wrap my head around the concept of the genetic virus that is set to kill the main characters. Once you get past the beginning, though, and the plot picks up speed, it's not a completely terrible book. It somehow manages to be more childish than the Percy Jackson series, but then again neither Riordan's or Lerangis' books are meant for adults. The plot itself, and the concept of Atlantis, is an interesting enough premise to keep me interested in this series beyond the first book. Hopefully the sequels only bring the series up, and not drag it down where I suspect it might belong.
adventurous funny lighthearted medium-paced
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No

Totally out of my age bracket, but I wanted to check out the latest releases from children's fantasy. very well written, action packed, amazing world building!

Sorry Peter Lerangis you are no Rick Riordan. Not only was this book boring it was also disappointing. There is poor characterization and meh action scenes etc.. I was expecting another Percy Jackson, you have no idea how happy I was to find this book. I spent the whole book waiting for something exciting to happen, but unfortunately it never came. With that said, it had an good premise and it does have what it takes for others to like it, but it just wasn't for me.

A fun story with fun characters :))
may rumors said this is the simple version of Percy Jackson series. I agree. Bcs if you look at the target reader, it written this book for thos 8-12 years old. no wonder the story is so light. But it doesn't mean that the story isn't deep. no. it's unique and I love every story with any myth (greek/nordic/etc) things inside.
