This is the fourth book in the Highland Brides series and each book can be read as a standalone title. In this book we get to see Lady Murine Carmichael and Dougall Buchanan journey. We have previously met both of these characters and I really enjoyed meeting them in the previous books so was really glad that they got their own story. This was just quite a story and I just didn’t know what was going to happen next. I have just absolutely loved this series it just keeps getting better and better and is full of wonderful characters that I hope get their own story. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

This might be my second highlander book. Definitely my first book by Lynsay Sands. And I absolutely loved it! I listened to the entire book on audio, and the narrator was amazing! She told this beautifully written story in a way that I did not want to stop listening to. This series was suggested to me, and even though I hate starting series in the middle, I'm not going to turn down a chance to buddy read. If you are new to Highlander romance books, or even if you aren't, I 100% recommend this one! It was just that good!!

Best friend’s brother. Running away from a brother who wants to whore you out. Sharing a horse. Waterfall baths. Arrow to the chest. Brotherly competition.

Spousal abuse and rape. Murder of parents and brothers.

Salacious filth.

Sometimes books don’t have to be good and that’s okay.

I started reading this as a joke and finished the whole thing within a couple of hours.

I'll circle back for a proper review later, my only current note is these covers are hilarious and have little to nothing to do with the content, even by shirtless solo man on the cover historical romance standards. I love that we see top of booty happening here. Also, the wall?? of a keep?? when most of the plot happening here is a roadtrip situation and our MMC very explicitly is nota laird and in fact does not have a keep or castle of his own - he doesn't have a house of his own, there's a whole thing about him worrying the FMC will prefer his elder brother who has a title and a castle and is his boss lmao.

Also-also, there are several books in this series with naked or mostly naked men in water or under waterfalls as the cover, which is extra hilarious considering this book has top-of-booty-leaning-on-a-keep-wall action but the book itself has at least two (2) visits to an actual waterfall and several scenes of nude or mostly nude bathing.
