Definitely my favorite of the series so far. Violet's growth in this one was excellent. The breakup scene was amazing and SO SATISFYING. The flogging scene almost made me cry but was so good. The men finally realizing what idiots they are and groveling has been excellent.

This was more romantic, just as the author promised. I mean, it’s all sorts of fucked up, but it was more darkly romantic in a way.
Violet builds something truly admirable, and stands her ground on principles - she completely circumvents the guys and makes laws for a better future - but to be fair, she doesn’t grow as a character, she just stands by her principles. But her actions are trying to force other characters to grow (spoiler alert: not yet).
And while some actions from men went from, oooh, we’re locked in a room for five months and didn’t notice Jerome around to. Oh, I’m gonna take the baby Jasper and basically adopt steal him and help around the sanctuary to get in the future mommy’s good graces 🤭 the guys went through some sort of unhinged here.
And I do love unhinged.
But Kristy Cunning loves her cliffhangers. I’d suggest never picking up her books unless there’s the next one lined up (admittedly the end of the third one was worse).

4 stars for effort, its starting to be a lot of info to take in so I find myself skipping.

Oh man. I loved this so much. And it took me through a rollercoaster of emotions - there was a fair lot of crying in this book.

In particular,
Spoilerthe break-up scene made me bawl ... I was so furious with the guys for ignoring her and falling right into Idun's bullshit, and my heart just broke for Violet. And the flogging ... so many complicated emotions. I was so proud of her, even as I was so upset. When I realized what was coming, I thought I would hate it - like, she takes a beating to make people care?! But the way it was done, with her proud throughout, and shaming them ... it reminded me of some of the civil rights protests. Or the way video footage from Vietnam turned the tide of public sentiment towards the war. Sometimes people need to be faced with the horror in order to actually empathize. Moreso with these cold immortals, who have allowed their bitterness to detach them from everything. So this scene that I thought would possibly ruin the story to me, like it was some kind of fridging of a powerful female to motivate a male, was actually incredibly moving. It was a protest, a shaming, a call to arms. She didn't break, and she finally got through to some of them, so they could see the horror. The guys were shattered, the omegas were shattered, even Shera was crying.

Also,
SpoilerAnna is Pandora, right? I can't be the only one who thinks that. I'm not sure exactly how, but ... everything from her barely-veiled loathing of Marta (after we were told that Pandora hated Marta, because of what Marta did to Bobo) to the way she quite frankly isn't really a ghost (and she keeps getting more powerful) ... it keeps making me think that.

And lastly, Arion is still my favorite. He is just so deeply emotional, underneath this hard exterior. That's not a type that usually draws me - I am NOT drawn to assholes - but Arion doesn't come across like an asshole to me. More like a kicked puppy that has finally gotten vicious to protect itself. He's been so badly abused that I just hurt every time I think about it. But he's incredibly kind to Violet, and cautious with her. That combined with his clear love for the guys, which has motivated him to turn everything in his life around, and I can't help but adore him.

You know how sometimes you hit the end of the most recent release in a series you love, but you don't want to be done with it yet so you jump immediately into a re-read from the beginning? Yeah, that's what I'm doing right now.

Re-read May 2019
I read this last one as sloooooooow as possible, making myself put it down, because I still didn't want to be done. I just love it. And I can't wait to see where things end up.

This book got so confusing for awhile then things finally started slowly fitting into place. I love the characters but these guys need to stop fucking up and Violet has to get over her "choose" mentality whenever she gets close to one and start accepting she can have ALL.
