DNF. I liked the premise but it was a painful read. The First third of the book is really slow and boring, poor character development, wasn't engaging enough to keep reading.

"A dirty martini will make you admit things to other people, but a dirty book? That will make you admit things to yourself. Real things, honest things, things you wish you didn't feel but you do. Each time you uncover one of these truths a brick falls from the facade you've built around yourself and leaves a hole for the light to shine through."

You might know that I am a big fan of erotic, erotic romance etc... and stand firm in believing it to be a feminist genre. For the quote above, I really dig this book even though I must point out this is not an erotic read. I picked it up because I was curious about the books they read in the club. It maybe isn't the best book I've ever read and there are some pretty significant plot points that wander about and never quite land but it is a light book about friendships and dirty books. Why not?

Light hearted, humorous chic-lit. Fun story about female friendship. Little bit like the author was going for some shock value in parts and the ending wasn’t what I would have hoped, but a light fun read none-the-less!

I would say this is a solid 3.5 book but I gave it a 4 because I really loved the ending and friendship that both sets of women had. As someone who has amazing girlfriends that I got as an adult, and I mean amazing girlfriends, I love a book that highlights that. It reminds you that you don’t have to know someone since high school for them to instantly feel like family and maybe you’ll enjoy some dirty books together!

A fun read that reminds you of all the reasons why best friends are the best part of life. The book tells two stories - that of the past and of the present. Unlike some books, I enjoyed both tales. Great summer feel good read.

This story about friendship is an easy read. The dialogue, not pertaining to sex, is clever. The dialogue about the taboo subject runs the gamut from gross, "lying on a hair-filled bathmat with a vibrator," to more gross (read the book). The crass similes, women unhappy with their lives, advice to explore your sexuality with a vibrator, makes for much fun for the author, not so much the reader.

So, man or machine? I think these characters may have been happy either way.
