If you thought the first one was graphic, I wouldn't read this one. Good but gross at times.

A good second book in the series. While the mystery wasn’t as interesting, we got a lot more insight into the character of Lisbeth. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I enjoyed this book even more than "The [b:Girl with the Dragon Tattoo|2429135|The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1)|Stieg Larsson|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1275608878s/2429135.jpg|1708725]". We got much more insight into Salander's character and the plot seemed tighter. I loved getting to know the familiar characters even better, including Berger and Beckman.

The fact that this book revolves around a murder is no surprise, and the publisher didn’t want it to be. The back-of-the-book summary comes right out to say that “two people are brutally murdered” and that Salander ends up being the prime suspect. The book is less about the crime and more about the investigation, which is fine. That’s actually why I loved the first book so much. It held my interest and got me emotionally invested in Blomkvist’s work.

The main problem for me was the build up to the murders. You know they’re coming (in fact, once you start reading, you even know who the victims are) but you’re forced to read through long chapters of background, setting the scene for the crime. It seems strange to me that it doesn’t happen until nearly halfway through the book, when it easily could have fit into one of the first few chapters.

I got over this fact, however, although it took me longer to get through this book than I would have hoped. Once the three separate investigations began, each with their own agenda, I was finally hooked.

Even at it's climax, this book left me wanting a bit more. It didn't quite live up to my expectations following its predecessor.

Always interesting to read contemporary books from other countries. The littlest things become interesting, like the apparent extreme illegality of mace in Sweden. While this book was just as creepy as the first, I enjoyed the downplayed level of fully creepy sexual abuse descriptions.

Gripping and fun!

I feel very ‘meh’ about this book. I enjoyed it whilst I was reading it, and I probably like Salander’s character even more in this book than in the last book, but I just think it was too long and the pace should have been quicker. I’m not sure if I like Larsson’s writing style either. I think overall this is a 2.5 but would probably have to categorise it as a 2 if forced to becuase I’ve read threes that are better.

Even better than the last one. Salander is one of the most complicated and intricate characters I have come across.

an engrossing thriller - i enjoyed this more than the previous book in the series because it focuses more on Lisbeth. lots about how the psychiatric institution was used as a weapon against her and how much their reports/diagnoses of her colored everyone's perceptions of her moving forward. made me think more than a thriller usually does, but was also gripping and suspenseful.
