This book was a good sequel. I had to immediately start book 3, though, since it didn't really wrap itself up in any manner.

I liked this one better than Dragon Tattoo.... could barely put it down! Talk about a cliffhanger though... I'll be right back b/c now I have to start the 3rd one... shoot.. I don't have that one...

Interesting how Lisbeth changes in this book. The long ending scene at her father's property is disturbing and suspenseful.

Really had me worried there!!

It took me forever to finish this book because it was so stressful but my God, I loved this book. THAT ENDING THOUGH, OH GOD, WHY, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT STEIG?! WHHHHY?!

Can't wait to read The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.

This one is tough to rate for me. On one hand the characters are extremely interesting and dynamic. On the other hand the plot progresses at a snails pace. Don't get me wrong, character based fantasy is one of my favorite genres, but character based mystery must not be my thing. I usually enjoy mysteries for the, well, mystery. That is pretty much non existent here. I guess you want to know who killed the two new characters introduced, but the more information we get the less I care about who killed them and what is going on. The big bad guy that everyone is so scared of really isn't that impressive, and that's about it for the plot. What irritated me most was probably the four or five separate investigations into the same thing. The police seem biased and inept as usual, Armansky is less than impressive, and Blomkvist isn't much better. The only thing that kept me going through this was Salander. She is just plain unique and I couldn't wait to see what she would get into next. If there was a decent mystery in this novel like there was in Dragon Tattoo, then I would have enjoyed it much more. The negatives really outweighed the positives here, and I don't think this series will quite live up to the original.

Bloody brilliant book. Highly recommended. Sent shivers down my spine thoroughly enjoyed this sequel and can't wait to read the next. You have to read it to know.

Lisbeth Salander is an astonishing character and the field of loyalty she accomplishes through the friendships she establishes really does give the book a feeling of solidarity.

"Kalle F*cking Blomkvist"

Who hasn't read this book and memorized that line? This thriller is different than the previous in the series, [b:The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo|2429135|The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1)|Stieg Larsson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1327868566l/2429135._SX50_.jpg|1708725], which unravels more like a traditional mystery novel. Rather, this book is a parallel thriller, following the actions of Mikael and the police force in one narrative, with Lisbeth and the criminal underworld in the other.

I've read some reviews that highlight the obvious allusions to Swedish writer [a:Astrid Lindgren|410653|Astrid Lindgren|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1194544214p2/410653.jpg]'s characters, with Mikael being a the stated analogy of detective whiz kid Kalle, and Lisbeth being similar to the carefree/no rules Pippi Longstocking. Both seem to be grown-up versions of these characters, but nothing else from the plot directly supports this.

If you're already past the first book, and possibly past this one, you'll likely keeping going. This book serves as a great second act to the trilogy and it makes me want to learn what happens next.
