As a big fan of Every Summer After and One Golden Summer, I found this book a tad lackluster. The premise was that the fmc (Fern) and mmc (Will) spent 1 day together 10 years ago (while both being in separate relationships) and fell so madly in love it affected the trajectory of their lives when it didn’t work out… I personally couldn’t find myself invested in the characters or their love story. I also felt like Fern was chasing after Will the whole time and he pretty much gave her nothing unless they were getting intimate. Unfortunately not my favorite Carley Fortune book or characters. However, I still enjoyed her writing style and the cozy summer feeling her books exude as always. I’m hoping I get a better experience with This Summer Will Be Different!!!

I have said it before and I will say it again, I LOVE Carley Fortune and all her books. I think she is a fantastic author and all her stories are easy to read but their plot & characters are all wonderful. Meet me at the lake follows the story of Fern who moved back home to run her mom's lakeside resort which was something she never wanted to do. However there was no one else to take the place so currently she is working alongside her ex boyfriend and doesn't know where to start. Enter Will, the one with answers and an offer to help Fern out however, Fern and Will have a past and Will is hiding something. Will they be able to work together or will they call it quits before it even begins? This story was a fun summer read with a simple plot line and lovable characters. This one was more of a sweeter, less messy or intense love story.

Carley Fortune always nails that summer nostalgia vibe. This one leaned heavier than Every Summer After with the grief and responsibility, but I loved how it balanced that with such a hopeful, romantic tone. The dual timeline worked so well, and I was just as invested in their past day together as their present. I also really loved the emphasis on Fern and Will learning that sometimes you have to throw your carefully made plans out the window—because at the end of the day, it’s your life, not anyone else’s. And honestly? Fern and Will might be my favorite Fortune couple so far 💕 Imperfect, layered, and so worth rooting for.

Mi primer audiolibro!!!⭐️
Ha sido una historia muy cuqui y real, me ha recordado mucho al verano en que me enamoré (pero en plan bien y mejor escrito
