I loved this sequel to the False Prince. I didn't always agree with Sage's choices, and it did not have the amazing plot twist of the first one, but nevertheless, very enjoyable.
3.5 stars.
The book was very adventurous. The last 15 or so chapters were so good. At the 3/4 mark of the book I started enjoying it more.
Princess Amarinda is nice person and is super sweet and we can’t hate her but we all know that Imogen and Jaron are MEANT to be together.
And Roden was quite the annoying character who was always in denial of Sage/Jaron but I liked him more towards the end when he accepted reality.
Also, Fink is so good. At the start he is the kind of person who’ll win an award for being the most annoying kid in Avenia but he helped Jaron throughout his whole adventurous encounter with the pirates.
I will say I enjoyed the first book more and the plot twists were predictable in this book but it was still a super fun read.

Granted, I’ve only read the first two books so far, but dang is the series good.
The MC is a character you can root for. He’s witty, a smartass, and you just feel really invested in the story. It’s simply fantastic. Just when you think that you know what’s going to happen, Nielsen knocks you off your feet with the plot.
My feelings are all over the place, and I desperately wish that the MC will get to be with his love ;-;

Just as good as the first. It delivers fast-paced action, and was hard to put down.

I had high expectations of this book after finishing the first and I wasn't disappointed. While I did have to suspend reality a lot more with this particular adventure of Jaron's, Nielsen's character development is so flawless I was happy to overlook anything else going on. Jaron is one of the most captivating male protagonists I've come across in a long time and I can't wait to finish his story in the final book next month!
Fairly predictable, but a very fun, enjoyable book! My husband asked me to read this one and the next one because he loved them so much, and I enjoyed it also! I'm looking forward to the next one! :)
Very fun books. A great sequel to one of the only series to catch my attention as a young tween.
Thought the first book would be hard to top with it's element of surprise, but this book had tons of action. Excited to see the final in the trilogy. Also, listened to this one on audiobook, and the reader had a great, enthusiastic voice. I would definitely recommend the audio.
