This started incredibly, un-put-downably strong. There was a dip in the middle, but almost everything felt integral to the story and its advancement. The characters were well written, and you found yourself hoping for their success.

The central theme of the novel, for me, actually veered from the suspense, toward the forging of an unbreakable bond. I enjoyed reading about how that developed as the mystery faded into the background. Great read (or listen, as I did), and I can see how it will be a successful TV show as it’s been optioned already.

Hannah Hall's husband, Owen, disappears leaving behind a bag of money, a sixteen year old daughter, a scandal involving his job and a note that says "Protect her". Hannah knows this means her stepdaughter Bailey but what or whom is she protecting her from. When the FBI and US marshals show up on her door, Hannah discovers that Owen, is not who he said he was and her whole life has been a lie. Hannah and Bailey start a journey of discovery to find Owen's true identity and put themselves in harms way in the process.

Fast paced book, a lot of twist and turns. Very entertaining. A good read.
