The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks (author of The Notebook) is easy and delightful to read. It is not deep literature but it is a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours relaxing.
VERY different from the movie. Also, not as heart-wrenching as his usual books. Definitely not my favorite Sparks book, but still good.
I have resisted his writing for years. I'm a fan. Man writing romance, light on romance heavy on story. Yeah!
I loved this book. This is the first book I have read where the main characters didn't die by this author. I loved the story and thought it was so sweet. Great Nicholas Sparks read.
Logan Thibault finds a photograph during his third tour of duty as a marine in Iraq. He begins to think of it as his lucky charm. When he is discharged, he feels compelled to track down the woman in the photo ... a quest that leads him from Colorado to North Carolina where he finds Elizabeth, a single mother - divorced from a police officer in their small town. As Logan and Elizabeth become closer, her husband continually threatens to take her son away. In Sparks fashion, the story ends in tragedy.
The book was okay, but I would rate the movie version better.

I've come to accept that goodreads is not going to change the rating system, but it needs overhauled in my opinion
I would rate this book 3.5 or maybe 3.75 but I give it a 3 not a 4 star read.
It is a 4 star read because the story was engaging and I read it quickly. Sparks has a certain style and method to his story telling, so the reader knows what to expect, when to expect certain actions to happen but not a predictable read at all.
It is a 3 star read because Logan actions were of a stalker, even if his intentions were not that. I don't like how convenient some parts of the plot were. As for Clayton all his actions left a bad taste.
I will read more by him since after all these years the notebook is still a top read of mine.
