I at first wanted to read this book because i saw the movie. I didn't like the movie at all, but my friends said that the book was much better. Nicholas Sparks has written some amazing award-winning books like The Last Song and The Notebook. I wanted to start off an author study of him, so i started with The Lucky One. This book was MUCH better than the movie. The movie was vague and boring. This was filled with heart felt drama that can touch the hearts of so many different people. Not only are the characters in this book very fascinating to me, the setting and plot is made to keep you hooked. You never know whats going to happen or when it's going to happen. This romance is unlike no other. The way these two lovers meet is not because of choice, but because of destiny. I feel that this is a great book for adults and young adults. It has something in it for almost everyone to relate to. Yet i feel like this book is still not working for me. The romance in it is beautiful. But the way the whole story works can seem a little weird in my own opinion. This was not the greatest romance i have ever read, but it was still up in the charts for me.

This is a classic Nicholas Sparks's book. You will fall in love with the pace and the characters. But most of all the romantic plot!!!!
It was a good read. Do I want to read again if given the chance? No.
It's not one of those books that got me hooked from the first few chapters; in fact, it was sort of boring.
That until the two characters met -- the rest is your classic Nicholas Sparks' cheesy mushy romance.

Typical Nicolas Sparks romance (dramatically cheesy), although this one dragged on so much that I doubt it will ever get made into a movie.
I usually steer clear of nicholas sparks, but this was a fun, relaxing, quick read. also it was much less smutty than I was expecting :)
Popsugar 2021 reading challenge: A book that has the same title as a song
(This review contains one minor spoiler.)
I saw the movie for the first time back in Nov 2012 and so it's been a decent amount of time before picking up the book thats been sitting in my shelf for a few years now, although it is very hard to forget Le Efron these days. This is also the first time I've actually read a Sparks novel despite seeing all of the movie adaptations at least once and owning the staples on DVD.
That being said, it was fine. I allowed myself to get into the story. I read it in one sitting easily. It was what it was. I still like the movie better and would have considered writing a few very angry words to Sparks if he had killed the dog. I only spent .50$ on my copy at Goodwill so I'm not upset but I am among the feelings that I like his stories more as movies so this will probably be that last Sparks book I buy.

I enjoyed the booked and really liked the ending. 1 star off because reading the name Thibault so much made it look like not a real word
My first Nicholas sparks book and I really enjoyed it I feel brave enough to read his other books now :) A really good story I liked all the characters and the story line was well thought out and didn’t leave me guessing . I like how the story wrapped up and left no loose ends . It is a romance book in a way but it’s not super cheesy it’s got some other things thrown in the mix which was nice . I look forward to reading his other books .
