I'm not a Sparks fan. I've only read Message in a Bottle long ago. i never watched The Notebook or The Last Song.
This book: I dont love it nor completely hate it. There were some parts where it just rambled on and on and on and it would repeat the same things over and over again. I skimmed through these parts. But the story got me hooked! I couldnt just put it down. I finished it and enjoyed the read.

The Lucky One ties with The Guardian as my favorite Nicholas Sparks books
I will confess I do tend to get sucked in by Nicholas Sparks, but drifted away because of the overwhelming feeling of what else could possibly happen to the protagonist that tends to happen. This was not the case here- I liked seeing how the relationships developed between the main characters in the story. I found it a nice, relaxing read to end the summer.
I originally picked this book for a nice easy read and with a Sparks book you know exactly what your getting. Boy meets girl, they fall in love, there is a conflict, they work to overcome the conflict, and someone probably dies. To give this novel credit the ending I anticipated happening did not happen, so I'll give it credit. Just as it was going down the predictability route it took a right turn, which I appreciated. I thought the characters were good, however I found myself wanting more form them. I thought there could have been more to the character of Beth. Yes, she made a good mother and was a great teacher, but other than being told it you don't always experience it as a reader. Sparks tells the story through the characters points of view, as he does with many of his books. However, I noticed in this one he would sometimes slip. For example, it would be Beth's chapter and we would temporarily slip into Logan's perspective. The main characters mostly interact with each other, there is very little interaction with minor characters. At the beginning of the book Beth and Ben are at a birthday party for a friend and it is implied that they are close, however you do not hear of these characters again and the friend is only mentioned one other time. It is implied that Beth's ex-husband's family is important throughout the community, however you have hardly any interaction with them. It's these types of connections that I feel makes this a good novel and not a great novel.
I read this book a while ago. It is a heartwarming story and good for fast read
It's been a long time since I read a Nicholas Sparks book and I really enjoyed this one. It was a quick read with a great story. :)
I read this book because it was recommended to me by a good friend, who insisted that it wasn't like "all the other Nicholas Sparks books." I've read 2 of his and reviews of the others have left me less than inclined to read more. This one was, to be fair to my friend, far better than the other ones. Still, it was just weird. It was an alright read but overall, it made me mad (the corruption of one character) and made me roll my eyes (the superstition of another), and I think it'll be the last Sparks book I try.
I would have given this book 5 stars had the characters not been so perfect and cliche..... It was well written but almost unrealistic. The story took a while to get going and then it seemed almost rushed like Sparks was trying to keep it under a certain amount of pages. All in all it was a really good story and I enjoyed reading it. Now I just have to see the movie :-)
