The Lucky One

Although, I have seen several movies based on Nicholas Sparks books, this was the first Nicholas Sparks novel that I have read. I picked this randomly from the available library books.

In this book, a veteran marine named Lance Thibault sets out to find a woman from a picture that he found while in Iraq. He only has the picture and a vague note on the back of it to find her. When he finds her, he inserts himself into her life and gets more out of his search than he thought he ever would. However, they are both challenged by a high strung, dangerous, cop, ex husband who may be a harm to them all.

This had a mildly interesting premise, but I felt the conflict came a little bit too late and was not strong enough. I think that because I already knew Thibault's side of things, the conflict was not as compelling to me. The ex husband showed signs of crazy, but he got a little ridiculous in the end. It also seemed like all of the events were very contrived towards the end. This book was predictable and sappy like some of the movies I have see, but I expected that.

Even though this is the only one that I have read, it was probably one of my least favorite stories of Sparks. It did not encourage me to go back and read any of the books from the movies that I enjoyed. I am not sure that I would try any of his other books in the future either. 2.5

As with all Sparks books, the characters are real and flawed and make you laugh, cry and hope for the best. A wonderful love story with tension that pulls you in. Once you start, it’s hard to put down.

Would have liked a more detailed ending.. Felt it stopped abruptly. Overall a good read.

I love all Nicholas Sparks books, but really liked that this one took a different turn than a lot of his other books. It was intense and I couldn't put it down

Predictable but a good story. I enjoyed it.

Definitely not my usual type of book but I fancied a change. Took a little while to get into as I don't often like stories being told from various perspectives but I persevered and I'm glad I did. Not your classic love story so it was quite unique and kept me wondering what was going to happen.

The Lucky One is Sparks' 7th book I've read so far and thank to the monthly challenge, I could keep my 'one year one book by the author' goal.

The theme is somewhat similar to [b:Message in a Bottle|3478|Message in a Bottle|Nicholas Sparks|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1163789140l/3478._SY75_.jpg|1622450] in which the story begins with something one's found. Also, as usual, it took place in North Carolina. So I guess, if you are looking for a romantic story, or a 'perfect' guys or girls, you might come to NC and find your true love there, lol.

The book is devided in 3 pov and it was an easy read for me. I love the storyline (as usual) and could patiently wait for the truth to be revealed, which is so late. And I have to say that in a blink of eyes, I wanted it to end differently due to how stupid the character behave. And eventho I didn't cry as much as in the other books, my emotions were like a hurricane, so maybe that's why I decided to give it 5 stars.

My favorite character is Nana, she's so lovely and I like how her insticts is so strong. And when she said something about The One, I couldn't agree more. I remember seeing a name which drawn me into it so much without knowing why. I only thought that something was going to happened between us. I also heard the click sound, a thing I believed it only occurs in book. And when I finally saw this person, I wasn't surprised at all, not amazed, or anything. I just thought, it's how this person should have look like. Like I knew you so I wasn't surprised cause it wasn't a news for me. And I kept asking if we ever met, which is never cause I felt the familiarity. I think I won't ever feel that way anymore.
