just for the trick of the epilogue the book lost a star... i enjoyed it certainly, i loved logan, nana and the dog, but i don't like cheap tricks to keep attention and that... at the end it was cheap... *angry*

Easy and interesting reading

I love that Sparks has faulted male protagonists, Logan is one of his more interesting characters and you cannot help rooting for him against the bully Keith Clayton. Loved that the narrative didn't get too cluttered with backstory. Totally enjoyable read.

I was like 80% sure
SpoilerLogan
would die and if that had happened I would have given it only 3/5. I'm SO done with the sacrifice stuff (kinda looking at you "The Best of Me").
I was really happy with the outcome, especially how fast he got rid of the problem that resulted from leaving out important information (the picture).

This review is so bad I'm gonna end it now.

4/5.

After U.S. Marine Logan Thibault finds a photograph of a smiling young woman buried in the dirt during his tour of duty in Iraq, he experiences a sudden streak of luck--winning poker games and even surviving deadly combat. Only his best friend, Victor, seems to have an explanation for his good fortune: the photograph--his lucky charm.

Back home in Colorado, Thibault can't seem to get the woman in the photograph out of his mind, and he sets out on a journey across the country to find her. But Thibault is caught off guard by the strong attraction he feels for the woman he encounters in North Carolina - Elizabeth, a divorced mother -- and he keeps the story of the photo, and his luck, a secret. As he and Elizabeth embark upon a passionate love affair, his secret soon threatens to tear them apart--destroying not only their love but also their lives.

What I liked about the book was the triple POV, so you get Logan, Beth and her ex-husband and deputy sheriff Clayton.  Whilst I could understand why Clayton, did not like Logan from the start, when he took Clayton's camera and memory card with the college girls undressed by the river.

Even if that interaction was gone, like in the movie version, then Clayton would have still hated Logan for being there and having a relationship with Beth.  As always in romance books, there is a communication failure where something should have been said early on in their friendship, but it is always a major hurdle and something to work through.

Whilst the movie version was good, the book version is way better.  Whilst the story and book aren't the greatest but I rated this book four stars.  An easy way to spend hours relaxing and reading.
