This is the first Nicholas Sparks book I've ever read. I have heard that they are very formulaic and sappy. I actually enjoyed this book. From the very first chapter I was interested in how the story was going to unravel and was interested in how the characters were going to develop. Overall a great book. I would recommend to others.

Typical love story by Nicholas Sparks about a soldier who finds the photograph of a woman while on duty in Iraq after which he experiences a streak of good luck which his best friend attributes to the picture. His friend convinces him to search for the woman once they get home from the war.

Like all Sparks books, this was just a bit predictable. I knew someone wasn't going to make it, I just didn't know who. There was a twist at the end that I didn't see coming. I finished this pretty quickly so if someone is looking for a quick read, this is a good book for them.
