Sincere, although a better portrait of childhood than of young adulthood. The second half (or book) shifting so strongly into marital matters and how the March sisters end up still stands as an early example of authorial pushback against the desires of her readership, and the subconscious desires implicit in the society and subtext of the first half.

Gigi mentioned she was listening to this as an audiobook and I was looking for an audiobook so I picked it up. It was 19 hours long so it took me quite a while to get through it. At times I didn't really enjoy it as I found it very patriarchal and a bit too religious for my taste. However there are definitely kernels of wisdom and advice in it which I do appreciate.

i loved amy so much more than i ever expected to…so many adaptations do not do her and her character development justice!!!
