stephanie archer is my new favorite person

A cute read, but the timeline was so fast. 2 months from start to finish. Yeesh.

this was so much fun oh my god. emmett & avery's chemistry and banter was soo good, i loved the adorable small seaside town setting, & all the different characters. i can already see this being a new fave romance series. 4 stars because it did make me cringe a couple times but maybe its closer to a 4.5 i loved this

This was my first Stephanie Archer book but not sure if I will pick up something else by her. Overall the story was quick and easy to read, but there were so many small things that annoyed me that I’m not sure I would have the care for.

Let’s start with the good things.
I really liked that the book was under 300 pages and didn’t drag out the story unnecessarily. There was no annoying third act breakup or unbelievable plot twist or anything like that. I prefer the short chapters that this book had, I could easily breeze through this book in 2 days while also doing a lot of other things. The setting of the story was also quite nice, I could imagine the little town of Queen’s Cove very well. So this is what pulled up the story to a 3 star, otherwise I would have rated it lower.

Now onto the bad things.
Well, I didn’t connect to the characters at all. Neither Emmett nor Avery was really interesting to me. Emmett’s chapters basically were about either how rich he is (which he mentioned way too many times) or that how horny he is for Avery but also how he doesn’t want to settle down. I’m not a fan of stories where the people keep saying how much they don’t want something.. then of course, they change themselves for the right person. I also didn’t like how Avery kept calling her G-spot a button, like that threw me off so bad. And of course Emmett found it for the first try and every other time after that.
There were also a bit too much sex scenes after the first time they did the deed that became a bit boring so I skipped parts there for sure.
The whole story takes place in like 1 month and it just feels so unbelievable, both for the actual romance and both for their fake romance… like they go from dating to engaged to married in like… a week or two basically. And nobody in that town even questioned it at all. Not even one person thinks it could be a publicity stunt.
They also don’t seem to have any friends, despite always saying they have this and that. But they don’t spend any time with them at all.

So all in all, while I liked how quick it was, the small elements made it a bit insufferable. Not sure if I will continue this series or not.
