Bradbury’s prose is unique and fascinating and his pacing is quite fast making it a real page turner. The content and themes of the book are easily very applicable to today and are deeper than what meets the eye at first. I understand why this is such a universally read book in schools, albeit I never did, and I am glad I was finally able to get around to reading it. It left me even more terrified of our current post-pandemic education iPad kid generation—they need to put down the screen and read this front to back.

I wish Mildred's character was explored a little more. I think this would have amplified the dark themes of the book and given us better insight as to the effects of living in a flat, stale, and surveilled state. Although it is mentioned that people regularly try to commit suicide and partake in dangerous, adrenaline-driven activities, I wanted to see more about how people like Mildred felt and thought as they spent their llives sitting in front of parlor screens.
