Rookie Move is book one in the Play for Keeps series.
What I love is a good MM sports romance with low angst. Throw in a brothers best friend and a sexual exploration trope and I'm totally here for that. But while this book has all those things it truly didn't do anything for me. It absolutely missed the mark.
There is nothing wrong with the story. But I just didn't mesh well with it. There was something missing, like the spark was lacking.
I will say Nick J Russo is an absolutely fantastic narrator. I feel if I had read this on the kindle I may not have finished it. He carried the story for me.

4.5 stars, so good
I love a friends to lovers sports romance that's low on angst and just leaves you smiling at the end.
Considering how high my expectations were for a book from this duo, I'm so excited it lived up to them all.

MM Romance
Football Friends To Lovers
3 These Authors Can Do Better Stars
I love both of these authors and have 5 starred a lot of their books but this one is just so cliche, predictable and follows the same formula as every other MM sports romance ever. I know Riley Hart can do better because I love her angsty reads and her book [b:The Endgame|57481725|The Endgame (Atlanta Lightning, #1)|Riley Hart|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1616579897l/57481725._SX50_.jpg|89307770] was about football and politics, two subjects I absolutely hate and yet it was a 5 star read for me. Neve Wilder is the queen of hot AF sex scenes and while there were some in this book, there were also a lot of cringy ones and too much "dude bro" shit although I did like the banter they had with one another, most of the time.
While I found this to be predictable, cliche and the same book I've read countless times before, I can't deny that I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I liked both Ramsey & Garrett as individual characters and together and their friendship made their transition into a relationship make perfect sense. In fact, they were both idiots to not realize what they had sooner. I also liked the side characters enough that I would probably keep reading this series if books came out about them. But because I love these authors and know they can do better, I can't rate this higher than 3 stars.
