Bloody excellent. But I'm spent, and now is the time to sleep. Possibly have acquired some form of carpal tunnel by reading tome in bed... 0_O

Well, this is sad for me to type... But this book was just "OK" for me. I really liked Illuminae, so I was very much looking forward to this sequel but it didn't quite hit the mark. I realize I am in the minority here, but here's the thing: for half of Gemina I was waiting for something to actually happen (and quietly eye-rolling at the main characters), and for the second half I was kind of just looking forward to being done with all of this.

I still really like the formatting of the book, and the creative ways of using text and graphics to portray what's going on. My favorite character is still AIDAN, and I was so happy to see him back in the sequel. However, the plot didn't do much for me - I don't want to spoil anything but let's just say that space zombies from Illuminae is a much more interesting threat than the situation Gemina has to offer. Things did get more interesting in the second half, but it never really made up for the first half for me. I also never really got attached to the main characters like I did in Illuminae, which was a big problem since that meant I wasn't too invested in how this was going to end for them.

Basically, Gemina had its ups and downs, and while I love the way this series is put together, this sequel ended up being a disappointment. I was ready to give it 2.5 stars for a while, but the last third kicked things up a notch so I'm settling on 3. At this point, I'm undecided on whether or not I'll be reading the third book in the series :(

This was the best one of the trilogy

It didn’t quite suck me in like the first book but it was very good nonetheless :)

Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

This book started slower than the first in the series and (I thought) really dragging at the beginning and I didn’t like the main characters at first.

However as the plot develops, there’s a ton of character growth and by the end, I was absolutely gripped with tension.

I’m really looking forward to the final book in the series

This is a very great continuation of the last book and I can't wait to read the last book in this trilogy. This book mainly follows a different set of characters, but I grew as fond of them as I did the characters in the first book. The characters from Illuminae and from Gemina meet at the end of this book, and it was epic. I really liked the multi-verse aspect, and how there were 2 of the same-but-slightly-different realities happening at the same time. I also liked the journal entries that were included in this book.
