Didn't live up to the first Quinn book I read. Entertaining story but lacked something, and had too much of other things, mainly filler. It felt like it was supposed to be about 100 pages shorter but an editor told her to make it longer. Much of the last 1/3 was extraneous - hey, add another problem to slow down the conclusion. Miranda, Olivia, Turner, and their mother (Olivia's and Turner's) were all entertaining characters.

Poorly written protagonist who had no personality outside of being in love/obsessed with the hero (a man whose shift from broody nonsense to head over heels in love is rushed into the last bit of the story)

Uuuuuugh so many tropes in this one I hate. No spoilers but I just didn't love this.

Just before I read the book I heard a lot of bad reviews and so I was already expecting DNFing it halfway through. But Golly! It was such a bad idea to start reading the book at midnight cause before I knew it THE SUN WAS ALREADY SHINING! I loved it! Screw those bad reviews! this is one of my favorite JQ books! Julia Quinn? More like Julia QUEEN!

I'm calling bullshit.

A delightful read!

probably my fave hr after romancing mr bridgerton

Sweet and lovely and funny, a joy to read. This is a 4.5 for me, Quinn stretched out Turner's resistance a little too long and he started to seem like a jerk rather than someone acting out because he was hurt, which was an issue, but a minor one. A fun and uplifting read.
