Briggs' werewolf universe is well drawn. This series ties into the Mercedes series with some of the same characters, so it's kind of cool to feel like an insider already familiar with the people.

This was very much enjoyable, and a good palate cleanser! It feels very much like a low stakes crime show but with the paranormal. Fun!
Anna is a rare Omega wolf who is rescued from subjugation by her mate Charles who moves to to Montana and new adventures.
I read the prequel to this series which was very helpful in figuring out what was going on in this book so I would recommend it to anyone before this book.
After a lifetime of reading and loving strong female leads it was hard for me to relate to quiet, too-thin, quavering Anna but I did like her by the end of the book. I thought the supporting characters were more interesting than the hero and heroine so I look forward to seeing more of them in future books and hopefully a more lively Anna.

It was an unexpected wonderful diversion into a world of werewolves that not only lead a life of adventures, but were all well developed characters. I am reading this after having read all of the Mercy Thompson series out so far, and I actually prefer these characters.
I feel like the heroine is much more admirable and relate-able to me than Mercy, even though they are both interesting, bad-A ladies.

Cry Wolf tells the story of Anna, Charles mate, who is a rare Omega wolf - a wolf who sits outside of pack structure, being neither dominant or submissive, and can cast a calming spell over all other wolves.
Fans of the Mercy Thompson series will immediately recognize familiar faces, as Charles is the son of the Murrock, and is Samuels' brother. This story opens just as Samuel returns back into Mercy' life and moves in with her. In some ways, this book offers more of glimpse into the pack life and the life of the Alpha of the North American wolves then the Mercy books do.
As the other Briggs books, it is well-written work, fast paced, tightly written. Hardly a work of great literary genius, but an enjoyable read that is nice change from the vamp and angst-laden stories typical of the genre.
