I had more fun with this book than I probably should have. Very Twilight-esque, with a very very annoying insecure female protagonist that becomes untangled with a really good looking family's affairs. I thought we have moved away from that kind of novel in 2015 but, I guess not.
I doubt many readers are invested in Sophie and Nic's relationship, heck I don't think the author even is. Not that I am complaining about that fact because it makes this book's main saving grace, Luca, all the more enticing. It is because of him that I have some faith in this series becoming great. Nic can go.
Since it was such an enjoyable book, I am willing to let my better judgement slide, even though I do think that if this book put less effort into trying to fit into the YA genre, it would be far more edgy and intense. I hope that this series can potentially make that leap, while still holding onto the fun of it.

Vendetta Review on K-Books
"There is beauty everywhere; even in the dark, there is light, and that is the rarest kind of all."
Vendetta is one of those books that I've had sat on my shelf for years and I just never picked it up. I can't really explain why. The book sounded really good and interesting but for some reason I just never picked it up. Even when I did pick it up, after friends told me how amazing it was, when I picked it up from my shelf I was not sure whether I wanted to read it or not. Vendetta is a romantic thriller/mystery which is not typically my kind of book but once I started reading Vendetta I could not put it down.
Sophie is a normal girl, living in her small town when her life changes forever. When five mysterious brothers move into town Sophie is automatically drawn to them. I mean who wouldn't be, they're gorgeous and Italian. But the closer Sophie gets to them the more secrets comes out... not only about them but about her own family too. Can Sophie survive falling in love with a dangerously secretive boy?
Vendetta was utterly thrilling. Considering I thought maybe it wouldn't be my kind of book, I was just completely captured by this amazing storyline and incredible characters. I was swept away in Sophie's story with Nic and Luca and the other characters. I could not put this book down as I needed to know what was going to happen to them all.
Sophie is a great character to follow in this storyline. She is determined to find out the mystery surrounding the brothers and although she has next to no regard for her own safety I could totally understand why she acted the way that she did. I really liked the Falcone boys too. I really liked Nicoli but my heart lies with Luca. He's a bit of an ass but I just feel like there's so much more to him that we will come to see in the other books.
Vendetta was an incredible start to a new series. I loved every single moment of it. I couldn't put it down and I found this book just so thrilling. It will take you away into the mystery and danger of everything and leave you wanting more. This is a definite must-read.
"I knew I couldn’t trust my illogical heart, and that meant I had to do everything in my power to stay away from him so I wouldn’t have to."

nic can suck it
i wish there would have been more action from the start (it took a solid 200-250 pages for something to start really going on besides sophie wooing a boy who she insta-fell in love with)
also, stop the romanticization of the italian mafia 2kforever!! i may not be italian but it's nothing to be moonstruck about; they're not classy italian models turned mobsters killing off bad people. it's death, rape, torture, drugs, human trafficking, poverty, for innocents, for children. stop.
(ps: thank god for luca, my boy)

I’m so happy to have found this book and this debut author. After assembling a Top Ten Tuesday list about debuts of 2015, this one came up on that list and I have been excited about it ever since! I went into the book mostly blind about the entire plot, not knowing much except that it was about revenge. I would really suggest that method if possible, because all the crazy turns were so much more exciting.
My favorite thing about this book was the intense mystery. We don’t know much about the history of the Gracewells or the new family, but we know that Sophie’s dad is in jail for a mysterious crime. Sophie is a regular teen girl in Chicago, with a job and a recently disturbed home life. I liked her immediately, as well as her relationship with her best friend. Nicoli is a different story, a much darker bad boy type character. However, I found him really intriguing too. I was a little worried I would get the five brothers confused, but that never happened for me.
There are many different turns in this book, so I don’t want to get too much into the details of the plot. However, I will say that it is very fast paced, action packed, and kept me on the edge of my seat. I always had to know what would happen next as we unravel the tale of Sophie and Nicoli and their families. It’s a little Romeo and Juliet – esque, but with some thrilling elements. I have read quite a few revenge novels in the past few years, and while I am typically tired of the tropes that come with them, this had an unique take on the idea.
This was a really great debut novel! I am looking forward to continuing on with the series, especially after having all the feels while reading this one. I would suggest this to fans looking for a really exciting mystery.
