What's the easiest way to explain this book to another person?
It's your modern-day Romeo and Juliet

Follow along with this check list to see if we agree:

1. The instalove
I mean, Nic has no reason to LIKE Sophie at all, whereas the fact that Nic is hot makes him irresistable to her is a plausible point.

2. Blood debt
OH...SHOCKER. A dramatic feud cicles around the murder of some mafia gang leader, which results in the need of a stupid "sacrifice" from the other party

Hello? Have you guys ever heard of "An eye for an eye makes the world blind?"

3. Cliches and mushy lines
please. Nic. Just because you're Italian doesn't mean you should bust out some European charm on this poor girl

Well, I seriously enjoyed this book. In fact, I loved this book. Action-packed and yet mysterious at the same time. The cover and pages themselves are beautiful and the writing within is too. The whole idea is great and Nic sounds amazing (apart from the obvious problem which you would know if you've read the book). I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of this series...

After receiving it as a Goodreads giveaway, I was uncertain of how high I should set my standards. Each page was a new gateway into this book and I found myself finishing the book quickly. Additionally, my friends heard me raving about it and have already bagsied it next. Sam has it at the moment and hopes to read it soon.

Overall, a beautifully-written book by an author who by the rate that this book is getting popular, shall become the next big-thing and I have to say that I'm honoured to have read this book before it will. I see this becoming the next Twilight/Hunger Games, a big series which will probably be made into a big movie franchise. Can't wait for the next book.

DNF this book at page 76. I just couldn't with the writing style, it felt like it hadn't been edited at all!

I thought it was going to be beautiful and atmospheric but it did feel like a typical YA love story, and not a very good one at that

Was completely unaware that Vendetta is the first book in a trilogy. I can be spectacularly unobservant at times...

A brilliant new YA debut by Catherine Doyle, about Sophie, a girl who becomes entangled in the lives of a family living nearby, which is made up of far too many cute teenage boys. (The biggest problem with this book was deciding who to ship Sophie with.)
The more time she spends with the boys, the more she realises that something isn't quite right with them. What is their secret? And what's with all the jars of honey?
This book pulls you in from the beginning and fills you with the utter warmth and comfort of a mug of hot chocolate on a cold evening. The five boys are wonderfully varied characters, and Sophie stands up for herself in the face of what would for anyone else be an intimidating display of hotness. The plot twists between fun teenage romantic interactions and bone chilling intrigue without losing a beat. I'm desperately awaiting a sequel, especially if the outcome is Sophie/Valentino (the One True Pairing).

A thrilling read!

Rating this somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4!

3.5*

For me it didn’t really pick up until 3/4 of the way through also I hope to all things holy she ends up with Luca. I found nic really annoying and boring (sorry not sorry)

I really really liked this book. Much more than I was expecting, considering the way the beginning felt to me, but Sophie grew on me and the plot was quite interesting. I had read the blurb and I think I was expecting some kind of Romeo and Juliet-esque storyline but thankfully that was not the case.

This book has a romance in it, but I really wasn't that much into it, although the brothers and that family form an interesting plot device.
I am so glad that the romance sorta shifted away from Nic because he frankly worries me with his intensity. But I am totally swooning for Luca. I loved the ending because of him.

The revenge plot was intriguing and I really liked the twistiness of it, especially since, like Sophie, I didn't know what was going on with the shady family who has really hot boys who were simultaneously scary and enticing. Not all five are really described in depth, but they all leave quite an impression on you.

While at times it was a little hard to follow, I was swept up in the pacing of this story and anticipation and suspense of the book, all the while wondering who I could trust, and how the puzzle pieces fit together.

This book leaves you with just a taste of what certain characters are like, and I cannot wait to get to the sequel so I can see how things will play out.
