“The Thrashers” by Julie Soto is undoubtedly one of my favorite reads this month. This captivating YA thriller masterfully weaves together a paranormal mystery with deep character development, making it a must-read for any fan of the genre. The story follows Jodi Dillon as she navigates the complexities of her elite friend group, the Thrashers, amidst the haunting aftermath of a classmate’s tragic death. Soto’s writing is atmospheric and suspenseful, keeping you hooked from start to finish. The blend of mystery, supernatural elements, and relatable teenage insecurities creates a thrilling narrative that will leave you eager for more. Highly recommended for YA enthusiasts!

Zack Thrasher and Jodi Dillon have been friends since elementary school.
That’s the only reason she’s part of The Thrashers, the high school friend group people are just dying to be part of.
Maybe literally.
Zack, Julian, Lucy, and Paige are rich and attractive, privileged kids from powerful families. Jodi is none of these things.
What she has in common with the other members of the group is that everyone is in love with Zack. Mild mannered, polite, affable Zack.
So when Emily Mills tries to weasel her way in to the group, clearly crushing on Zack, everyone decides to “thrash” her - kick her out.
Except Emily dies…and strange things start happening.

What did I just read??
What a wild ride! YA slow burn thriller done right, that’s what I read.
It’s twisty and brave with supernatural elements, exploring high school and all of its inherent problems, including bullying, social hierarchies, betrayal, and toxic relationships.
So much was explored here, with a constant stream of discoveries and what the f moments that made it impossible to put down. The audiobook was fantastic.
This one will stress you out in the best ways, a book that will have you admins your friend. (It’s me! I’m your DM friend!)
Also, Julian, I can fix you. Call me.
