Thirteen Reasons Why meets thriller.
This has only got rave reviews so I am sad that I feel ambivalent (increasingly frustrated the more I write this review).

The Thrashers are the elite friend group at New Helvetia High. Everyone wants to be them and somehow Jodie is part of the clique.
Desperate Emily is not so lucky and chases after them like a kicked puppy. Her death sparks an investigation, a missing journal, and eerie messages to the group.

The forced love triangle, the obvious toxicity, abuse, no learning from mistakes. The group almost die, get injured, concussions; then start partying, drinking, and taking drugs immediately after? Whilst underage when the police are watching them? But obviously not well enough to stop all these ‘coincidental’ accidents.

My biggest pet peeve - I hate when thrillers use the supernatural or mediums to explain plot conveniences.

There was also a major accident every few accidents which I’m sure is meant to keep the tension and pace high, but just made me roll my eyes. Where were the adults taking responsibility for the teenagers?

The revelation was obvious from the start and I didn’t really care for any of the characters.
Sad face.

I went in to this as a Julie Soto fan so had high expectations. I started and wasn't sure how I felt at first (Honestly I almost DNF'd because I didn't think it was for me). But I'm glad I kept going! I flew through this, and the writing I love Julie Soto for was definitely present. I loved the twists and turns. I predicted a lot of what happened which is probably why I didn't rate this higher, but the ending was a surprise!

I think YA thrillers aren't for me any more but I'm quite sure my daughter will adore this one. I definitely recommend to anyone who likes YA thrillers!

Was this extremely campy? Absolutely. Did I love every second of it? Naturally.

This was my first book by this author and I enjoyed her writing style. This one started out with a suicide, talk of prom, a lot of different characters, and a highschool party. I honestly did not think I would be so invested in this book but I devoured it. The whole time I was rooting for a enemies to lovers even through this is not a romance (that is clearly a me problem). The suspense had me on the edge of my seat. I trusted no one and they were all so sus. I'm still low key mad that some people didn't get in trouble when they were guilty of some stuff. One punishment was rightfully deserved but like I still wanted a couple out of it and what the heck is that epilogue?
