Was this extremely campy? Absolutely. Did I love every second of it? Naturally.

This was my first book by this author and I enjoyed her writing style. This one started out with a suicide, talk of prom, a lot of different characters, and a highschool party. I honestly did not think I would be so invested in this book but I devoured it. The whole time I was rooting for a enemies to lovers even through this is not a romance (that is clearly a me problem). The suspense had me on the edge of my seat. I trusted no one and they were all so sus. I'm still low key mad that some people didn't get in trouble when they were guilty of some stuff. One punishment was rightfully deserved but like I still wanted a couple out of it and what the heck is that epilogue?

This was my first Julie Soto book, and I  liked it! It gave me Pretty Little Liars vibes, mysterious with just the right amount of drama. I was a bit thrown off by the genre shift halfway through (it goes from YA thriller to something more parasocial), but once I adjusted, I was into it.
The plot twist actually surprised me, which doesn’t happen often. Some characters annoyed me a bit, but nothing major—just eye-roll and move on. It’s a quick read (I finished in two sittings), and the pacing felt just right.
Not the most original story ever, but it kept me hooked and entertained. I’ll definitely check out more from this author!

hello that ending…

Thrashers is Julie Soto’s debut YA mystery, and it definitely delivers on intrigue. With fast pacing (minus a slight dip in the middle) and a twisty epilogue, it's a compelling read. The high school drama mixed with eerie paranormal elements made for a fun, bingeable story. While the characters were well-developed and the plot kept me hooked, I found myself wanting just a bit more emotional depth and intensity. Still, it’s a solid debut and easily devoured in a day.
