While the story and the mystery were addictive, I hated all the characters and all the zionist references. Here are a few examples:
- Stranger things? Really? Do you live under a rock? How did you miss the genocidal MC? Mentioning this show makes me question JS’s character.
- Marvel movies? Also under boycott. I’m starting to think JS is a Zionist? Or really out of touch with reality. All the pop culture Zionist references gave me the ick
- Selena Gomez make-up line?? Does JS have a checklist of Zionists to mention in her book?
- MacDonalds?? Girl bye.

All the Zionists' references really ruined my enjoyment and are making me question whether I'd pick up another Soto book. I actually thought she was a pro-Palestine..

📖 The Thrashers by Julie Soto
3.5/5
📖 Quick Summary:
A coming-of-age thriller following a group of teens as secrets and tensions bubble up in their small-town community, leading to unexpected consequences.
💭 What I Liked:
  • Good pacing overall; it kept moving without any dull stretches.
  • Authentic-feeling teen interactions and friendships.
  • Had a couple twists that genuinely caught me off guard.

🤔 What Didn't Work for Me:

  • Characters felt a little flat at times, making it tough to fully connect.
  • Some parts felt rushed, especially towards the end.

💬 Final Thoughts:
The Thrashers was a decent, quick thriller. Didn't blow me away, but it was a solid enough read. I'd recommend it if you're looking for something engaging but not too heavy.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Reading this was like watching season 1 of your favourite teen drama and it ended in a cliffhanger and now you’re desperate for season 2.

I was hooked. And my god I need more of Jodi and Julian immediately. The scene with the paint.. yeah that was hotter than the stupid ACOTAR paint scene and this is YA!

I’m actually so angry at Zach and Paige. Like wtf. And the Mills girls are psychotic.

The drama. The tension. The suspense. The yearning. Perfect.

This book made me feel SO many things. I don’t want to get into much because I don’t want to give anything away.

But I had a lot of theories, some of which were right and some which were a little off, but that kept it interesting. I didn’t know if I was always on the right track or not.

There’s a lot of things that happen/are done in the book that are uncomfortable to read about and there isn’t just a clear right or wrong… or at least not always.

I will say I wish we could’ve had more time with <s>Jodi & Julian because the way he looked out for her — ugh, my heart!! Also, the ending had me feeling SO anxious. I need to know that Julian is going to be okay and that he and Jodi will get their HEA. Hopefully Julie gets this memo and will write a sequel novella for me 😂 </s>
